Planespotting @ Amsterdam (AMS)

Post by LePousson »

Hello !

I'm a french spotter from the area of Nice (NCE) and i'm going sometimes to Roissy Charles de Gaulle (CDG).

But i wanted to know if there is someone that might be ok to meet me in AMS to go and have a spotting journey or two. I'll be arriving with an EasyJet flight as it is the cheapest airline from NCE ...

Thanks to tell me ...

Well, for spotting tips you could have a look at the following sites, maybe they can help you a bit:

http://www.scramble.nl/

http://www.schipholview.nl/

Don't forget to pay a visit to the spotting terrace, which is absolutely fabulous! :D

I am flying on Easyjet AMS-LTN-AMS at the 23rd, but what date had you in mind?

In any case, have fun at AMS, which is impossible NOT to have.

And welcome to the Luchtzak forums :!:

Thanks Fabian ...

I was planning a trip maybe in December or January ... That will depend on the money i'll have at that time ...

I've been told AMS, with LHR and FRA, is the very best spotting airport in Europe ... Everything is made for the spotters to get some exceptional spotting points ...

I'll come back here to tell you about the exact date ...

The spot near the Kaagbaan is a very nice spot if you like take off.
90% of the time this runway is in use and you only need very few MM to make pictures of the planes at the runway.

As i've never been to AMS, and as i will arrive there probably by plane, i will need someone to be with me and who has a car ...

But i'll have to wait till i have a bit more money ...

Thanks for all the replies ...

If you have more mm you can also go to the terrace on top of the terminal building. From there you can also see most planes passing by but you need a lot more mm to mae a good shot.

Hi LePousson,

It is not necessary to have a car with you, because you can overlook about 75 % of the airport form the airport terrace. And if you move to a strategic point you can see almost every plane landing or departing the airport.
Beneath I have copied a link to a very handy site, if you click on it and than choose Amsterdam/Schiphol you will get a good overlook of the situation. The terrace is number one on the map. Have fun with it!!
