There is only 1 NEO active at the moment, this is sent where it is the most economicaly logical. If the discount on airport taxes in LHR is bigger than the difference of cost of fuel on a TFS flight using a neo instead of a ceo, the only and sole NEO of the fleet is sent to LHR this is very simple.
If you look at the sheduled for summer, when there will 5 NEO's you'll see that NEO's will also operate longer flight to TLV or canaris island.

Given the past and current safety issues of the MAX, I'm not sure I would like these planes going to SN...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Well, I can't remember whether a CEO is group 2 or 3 at CDG. If 3, then a NEO gets a deeper discount in MAD, and that's one of the most expensive airports (save for LHR, a class of its own). Even if the CEO is group 2, the NEO does get a bigger noise discount in CDG but it is offset in less than an hour's flight time, whether you go with Airbus' advertised 20% burn saving, or a more conservative figure nearer to 15% I picked for reasons I won't disclose.
Put it another way, a NEO to MAD and a CEO to CDG is cheaper than the other way around. LHR may be where the NEO is cheaper, bc the noise differential is pretty steep indeed.
Aren't airport charges public anymore?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
An A321 would certainly be very welcome on certain destinations... AGP is one of them, and I guess also TLV (in more quiet times then,...)...crew1990 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2024, 20:06And it won't be the case, I would not worry too much about that. The rumor are more oriented on A321 for short/medium haul ops.
The A321's could also be used during weekends on charter destinations...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Don't you confuse internal analysis, thoughts etc with strategy?
The communicated strategy so far for SN is to move to a simplified all 320 size fleet.
Look at your larger peers in Austria how they stopped serving all marginal needs - Q400 is out, A319 is out, 321 - who knows how it would be replaced.
Can SN sustain a consistent subfleet of A321 of let's say 10 aircraft all seasons ? That is the question and not if 3 pieces would cover some niches.

I do not confuse anything, I'm just relating some "bruit de couloir" wich often comes with business case.
In the case of austrian with a fleet of 17 embraer, not sure we can say they stopped serving all marginal needs.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Austrian moved to a pretty streamlined fleet over one and a half decades.
F70/F100 -> replaced by E195
Q400 - exit , replaced as capacity by 6xA320 in VIE, no more small regional routes from tiny airports
A319 - out of the fleet, instead becoming some A320NEO's
321 - due to replacement somewhere around 2026-27
If the 321 is going to be replaced by 320, than it would be a move from 6 to 2 sizes.
But, likely that on group level there is an analysis going on with respect to the 40 options for the A320 family. The current order at 321 size is needed to replace ageing Lufthansa Fleet and the new options have most economical sense if 321 is ordered.
These are normal evaluations, the question is what comes.

Now OO-TCV is in the pain shop @EMA ...
It seems they use the winter season (logic) to do more paintings and maintenance.
Some are 'in preparation' @BRU; not sure what that means since it is not necessarily the new planes (OO-TCH)
Are there maybe also adaptations to the interior?

Thx! We would therefore not only get rid of the A319s but the A320s too. Will the Smurfs end up somewhere else ?DannyVDB wrote: ↑18 Jan 2024, 17:23 Not sure, but indeed that's what you can see at

Tomorrow Aerosmurf leave the fleet and Bruegel go to the paint shop. Rhakham will be the only belgian icon left with the old logo.

Negativo
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Seems now OO-SNE is in the paint shop, while OO-SNC seems to be parked and if I understand well it will leave the fleet too (LVF code) ... Can anyone confirm?

I have the impression there are more A320 leaving the fleet, while A319 are staying, no? There are only 3 A319 not yet painted in the new color scheme.

One A320 left the fleet already this year. The second one during this year.DannyVDB wrote: ↑27 Jan 2024, 08:44 Seems now OO-SNE is in the paint shop, while OO-SNC seems to be parked and if I understand well it will leave the fleet too (LVF code) ... Can anyone confirm?

The question is how will it be replaced? Only by those new A320neo?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
SNC was painted in Star Alliance colours not long ago.DannyVDB wrote: ↑27 Jan 2024, 08:44 Seems now OO-SNE is in the paint shop, while OO-SNC seems to be parked and if I understand well it will leave the fleet too (LVF code) ... Can anyone confirm?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Nice pic, thanks.
So OO-SBC has grey smarties, like OO-SFH.
OO-SBA has green smarties. Is it because it is the NEO lead ship and will be the only one in this colour scheme?
Well, after all there is already an airline that covers its planes with beach towels of different colours.
