Press release for the summer months of Brussels Airlines.
Adjusted ebit: 72m euro. 'best summer ever'.
They r very positive about the financial year and talk about growth.

Most profitable summer ever for Brussels Airlines, strong full-year profit expected for 2023 (aviation24.be)

Congratulations to Brussels Airlines and all their employees for their effort. Slowly growing and keeping costs under control made where they are now.

Let the bashers behind you with all the unrealistic destinations we heard from them.

Well done and hopefully LH will reward you for it.

What can we expect in 2024?

I assume maybe two additional A320-neo and the 11th A330?

That would be great.

Danny

For the moment the last 3 A320NEO are foreseen for 2024 and the 10th A330 in March.
The 11th A330 is also foreseen for 2024 but no final date. Maybe for AW24-25

Let see what material becomes available and when.

On long haul, everything depends on the availability of Allegris seats as that dictates how quick new aircraft are joining the fleet.

The delivery plan is pretty ambitious:
- 9X359 going to MUC , replacing there 5x346 which will likely migrate to FRA
- 15X789 going to FRA, replacing there 5x789 going to OS and starting the phase out of the 343
- out of the 9 remaining 333 in FRA likely 3 are needed to replace the 332 at Discover (latest rumor in 2026) and there is no clarity now if long haul in MUC shall start as well

On short haul the major expected event is an order of 40 A320fam/B737fam -likely to be announced before the Annual General Meeting in Mai, which shall drive replacement slots for SN's 319 as well.
With only 38 A320 CEO's getting a retrofit, and assuming the oldest ones are phased out , there would be 4x320CEO only to be allocated among all brands in demand.
And 12 A320NEO fam to be delivered in 2024 are already allocated.

I think it was a major maintenance ... Don't think they perform maintenance and painting in one go ...

SN fly Entebbe where I was three days ago. But why do we call the destination Entebbe after the name of the village where the airport is located and not after the name of the capital of Uganda Kampala ? It's as if we were talking about the flight Brussels Barajas or Brussels Kastrup? I am wrong ? Thx.

It’s just a thing, people call Schiphol, or Zaventem, or the three-letter-codes like JFK or LAX.

Brussels South = in fact located in Charleroi not speaking about Frankfurt Hahn.

.

Last night at around 00:10h Brussels Airlines A330-300 OO-SFB returned from "C-check" (maintenance) in Manchester and will be operating this morning' (Nov. 14) flight to Freetown.
The next aircraft due for maintenance is OO-SFE, scheduled to fly to Manchester today

I guess that OO-SFE is also for a C-check?

BTW: what is exactly done during a C-check. I understood that in a D-check they 'empty' the plane completely, do the rewiring, etc. ... What in a C-check?

Once more, Brussels Airlines cabin crew issues an indefinite strike notice. Worked there myself for 25 years, only in the last few years cabin crew were forced to strike. This to point out their outrage.

Life in aviation may have a beautiful facade on the outside. If you work at Brussels Airlines, you realize that the heavily irregular schedules and hours must be appreciated by passengers, but also by your management.

Despite the demand from the unions and the recent recommendation of the (neutral) mediator, the unions must resort to strike again.

Very unfortunate because this company has everything for a great future, including flexible, friendly and amiable cabin crew.

With all respect for cabin crew, pilots, handlers and so on, I must say it really bothers me a lot that every strike is in a holiday period to affect as many people as possible.
'We know it's not pleasant for the passengers, but it' s the fault of the ceo... '
They choose to strike in high season. They can choose January or February, two months where way less passengers would be affected, but no, let's ruin holidays for as many people as possible....

Few years ago my plans in autumn holidays got canceled cos of a strike of the bagage handlers, this past summer another strike (ryanair) in full holiday season canceled another of my flights. Now again?

Belgium is like France when it comes to striking. In the Netherlands it's way less.
