I still regret it that Boeing dropped the airline code when referring to the aircraft type.

Indeed. I've lived (and worked) many years with Airline 29. But since Boeing is delivering planes to more than 100 airlines, the system became unsustainable!

Yes I know.
The list goes far beyond 100 airlines as they also used alpha numerical codes. See under “list”.
