What's happened with EI-GEH ? All SN flights cancelled today ? I go very frequently to BOD and it's a lotery flying with SN...and I do not speak about Long Haul flights ! A lotery so it's better to go to CDG via ZYR...for sure !

Three return flights were cancelled, indeed: Zurich, Bordeaux and Billund. But the evening flight to Birmingham was operated normally, and on time.

Probably a tech problem. Sh*t happens...

^^ That black 'mask' around the cockpit windows looks so much better! Why don't they apply this to all aircraft?

And New-York cancelled again...today ! If they can't, why continue to fly US ? SN must be in the top companies that cancel long-haul flights daily...it's simply pathetic! I wonder who, as a passenger, still dares to reserve a seat. One long-haul cancellation per year over 3 years in my case and I threw in the towel. Zero credibility! It's not bashing...it's a fact !

Based on Flightradar24, the SN501 has been cancelled 4 times this year. Indeed, these 4 cancellations were in September, but it seems that the rest of the year, the airline was able to operate the daily flight.

Since 25 August, Brussels Airlines cancelled Washington (SN515) five times.

Unfortunately it's the easiest one to cancel and rebook passengers. They have UA,LH,DL as rerouting alternatives, where if they cancel an african rotation its far more difficult to find solutions.

But I agree on you, New york again

And we do not speak about african destinations cancelled too ! Dakar yesterday for example ! Terrific...1/9 = 12% cancelled flights ! And I do not speak about BOD, Billund, Zurich...thank's too Citymachin...That's not serious !

Flying (long haul) on SN has become like playing the lottery.

As long as LH refuses to invest in a decent (in size), modern long haul fleet for SN, these things will continue to happen and customers will run away.

(in the meantime: 787's for OS, A350's for LX)

(as for SN: "here's 1 extra 15-year-old A330 we found somewhere. Yay!")

I agree with your cmments. However, for the record, Dakar was not cancelled on Thursday; SN205 was diverted to CKY but went from there to DSS. just a change of itinerary, for unknown reason.

Related or not, today SN255 (OUA-ABJ) is delayed from 1045 to 1245.
SN205 (DSS-CKY) delayed from 1100 till 1210.

Each Group airline gets new long haul aircraft when they are due.
Currently SN has leasings for mid life aircraft until the end of the decade - no urgency to change.
And by the way, the mother company is flying with some 25+ years long haul airplanes, so where is the point to change what SN flies?
OS is changing a 25 y old long haul fleet against used 789.
Swiss is changing 25 y old 343 against new 359 - but they deliver enough profits to afford them.

And last but not least look at the destinations SN is flying : to what extend technical problems are not caused by the reality that in sub Saharan Africa you might not have the local skills, spare parts available and generally the infrastructure for state of the art aircraft? In those markets often not the fanciest solution is the best one.
