Biman Bangladesh has officially applied to the U.S. Dept of Transportation to launch new 5 weekly flights from Dhaka to New York JFK effective Summer 2024 using a B787-9. In its application, the outbound flight would be taking a stopover in Izmir (ADB) enroute to JFK whilst the return sector would be flown nonstop.

I'd wish for any destination apart from Newark/JFK/Washington as they are already served from BRU - although JFK could work with a afternoon/night flight that UA was planning a few years ago

The same as Juneyao Airlines, Philippine Airlines, CAA, etc, all long haul announced as rumour but never came. Only wishlist. Belgium has a huge problem by attracting long haul carriers.

I prefer more that there is an announcement with a confirmation and how much flights a week like in our neighbor countries.

The only increase we have comes from European carriers to Leisure destinations.

Sorry for being pessimistic but it is after so many years.

Air Canada will increase their services to Brussels.

From Montreal they will use the 450-seater B777-300ER instead of the A330-300

The service from Toronto will start a month earlier and 2 of the 5 flights will be with the B787-9 instead of the - 8

They've been using the B77W in the summer and the A333 in the winter on this route for some time now, but the 777 will operate from July 7 instead of May 1, although AC often makes last-minute changes

More good news:

SIA will launch non-stop flights between Singapore and Brussels from April 5, 2024. The airline is returning to BRU after more than 20 years. SIA will operate four weekly flights to Brussels with its Airbus A350-900.

You were faster than me 😉.

Let's hope it will also attract Cathay Pacific again and more frequencies of ANA

SIA back at Brussels is great news !
Cathay Pacific back at Brussuls would be equally great.
Then all I would ask for is for Philippine Airlines to come to Brussels, and I'm fine.

Thai explore to order 95 new jets.
Many wide-bodies.
Are there talks to make them come back?
By example for next spring ?

Anyway great news coming from both SN and SQ.
Cheers

Phillipine Airlines has ended all theirs flights to Europe. Their last destination was London Heathrow closed in 2022 (flights resumed in 2013 after 15 years of absence) https://manilastandard.net/news/3143182 ... twork.html

PAL eyes a possible return to Europe with A350-1000, but i think they will target biggest market before : London (about 200 000 Filipinos live in UK), Paris (between 150 000 and 200 000 Filipinos live in France). France hosts the largest diaspora in Europe with UK then Spain.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overseas_Filipinos

https://aviationweek.com/air-transport/ ... a350-order

MNL is only served by KLM and Turkish Airlines from Europe. . The situation is the same with Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur and thus Garuda and Malaysia Airlines. Big markets but with a decrease of flights to Europe since 2000s, due to the growth of airlines based in the Middle East.

Thai has already expressed their wish to return to BRU next year "as a seasonal route" but we don't know exactly when. Feist also said they were close to resuming flights a few months ago. I'd bet for next summer

I read on Twitter that both are being negotiated, not sure if this is true or not

"As a follow up to the meeting between Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Brussels Airport in Brussels in December 2022 that was witnessed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda and Brussels Airport CEO Arnaud Feist met on 05 September 2023 to further discuss developments in the possibility of direct flights between Manila and Brussels."

Yes, I read it also here.
It looks like next summer, yes.

Isn´t the winter the best season to visit Thaïland. More flights in the winter before ?

No TG in march and april 2024 ? It is a pity if we visit Bhutan. Only Bangkok and Delhi connections.
Cheers

Let us hope more destinations in Asia will open or reopen. Or frequencies be increased.

But USA is still very poor in number of destinations. Boston, Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta...
Then Mexico and Brazil...

SN cannot do it, but I wonder if there is still a team at BRU whose job is to attract new airlines and increse offer with United and Delta...

Of course that there is still this team. And it's a very solid one which keeps good contacts with those airlines. Many are on the radar.

But... As many people seems to forget here is that it also has to be agreed first via politics. First they do the job with many visits, bilateral agreements etc. As from the moment there is green light from both sides, the airline and airport will do their job.
And of course, the airline also has to want to do it, it's their money.

Delta will not do much more at BRU besides opening again, hopefully, Atlanta. As they are so close working with AFKL and with the shrinking AMS more flights will go to CDG instead of BRU.

The second but... If you have a strong home carrier, it's also helping to attract more long haul. And finally we see that the home carrier is growing.

Due to the lack of aircraft, it will be end 2024... if not 2025. :(

According to the latest, LH, Swiss and Edelweis will increase the number of new destinations in the US and Canada.
Let's hope that SN can increase the number of new destinations in Africa
