Lufthansa group special to Africa.... LH, OS and LX but
Where is SN ?
Wasn’t it the idea that SN would become a full network airline...?

I guess that SN prefers to enjoy the full fare on its Africa flights and leave the discount fares to LH, LX and OS.rwandan-flyer wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 19:59 Go on LH website and check offers and select Africa. You will see a lot of SN destinations...

Furthermore, SN doesn't fly to any of the advertised destinations (JNB, CPT, NBO, ABV, DAR)

Yes.... i know....
But nevertheless they could have a real group strategy for this promotion and overall, I am not seeing any evolution in the upgrading of SN’s position towards a full partner inside LH group as an equal to LX and OS...

What are currently the most requested destinations from Vienna to the Africa ? Because these offers are from Austriasn26567 wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 21:36Deejay wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 18:39 https://www.vielfliegertreff.de/deals/l ... rst-class/

Dakar ? Abidjan ? I don't think.
If you check QR (https://www.qatarairways.com/en-at/offers.html), ET (https://www.ethiopianairlines.com/en-at ... om-viennac) or AF (https://www.airfrance.at/cgi-bin/AF/AT/ ... 1619330154), you can't find a West African destination except for Lagos with Air France.
Most of offers to Africa are in East Africa and Southern Africa. Part of Africa where SN has a low presence or 0 presence.
Even on SN website you can't find offers to Africa, from Vienna https://www.brusselsairlines.com/en-at/ ... -week.aspx
If you check Copenhagen, they are lots of offers to Africa, because demand is currently bigger: https://www.brusselsairlines.com/en-at/ ... -week.aspx (select CPH)
And yes therre are mix of SN and LH destinations on LH, but when you select an African destination served by SN, most of times 1st choice is VIA Bru.
Check London, Paris, Francfurt, Washington (UA-SN for Kigali),....and Vienna. You have offers to SN destinations in Africa https://www.lufthansa.com/il/en/flights

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Nice to see that SN has seven (7) flights heading for Africa today.
OO-SFE would have liked to be on the photo as well but my FR24 limits the Multi-Select to six only.
She is operating the SN473 service to EBB.
I have no info on the load factor but assuming they also carry some cargo these flights are hopefully profitable.

The Belgian government’s ban on non-essential international travel has stifled demand, and proved a significant obstacle for Brussels Airlines. However, it has found that its African routes have performed comparatively well under the circumstances thanks to VFR and cargo demand. Regarding its shifted operational focus, the airline stated that:
“Intercontinental traffic performed better than the European operations due to the company’s focus on African routes, with a stable demand in the VFR segment (Visiting Friends & Relatives), and at the level of cargo, especially in terms of medical supply transport.”

I see departures to Porto and Barcelona today, possibly the first time SN flies again on Wednesdays?Homo Aeroportus wrote: ↑10 Feb 2021, 19:33 And another No-Fly day today for SN.
Seems to be the new norm for Wednesdays ?

Nice to see that Brussels Airlines is still flying long-haul sectors for Eurowings. A330 OO-SFJ is currently operating EW1279 from Windhoek (Namibia) to Frankfurt.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
SN seems to have some difficulty sorting out their flight numbers for the Afi flights.
For example the BRU-Banjul-Dakar-BRU triangular rotation uses 217 or 221 or 317. Any sense to that?

It seems that bookings for this summer are doing great the last 2 weeks. They are even considering extra (weekend) flights to the top tourism destinations.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Seems SN has resumed conventional schedule, leaving BRU in the late morning instead of the afternoon.
With immediate return from outstations.
And SFE will run SN515 to IAD tomorrow.

Right, André; I went back to the 9th page on the 2020 thread: on March 17,2020, SN issued a press release informing all SN flights were suspended as of March 21....untill April 17 (!).
