I do not understand this "Shenghen Trump's ban" friday midnight. We are saturday afternoon and AF is flying, SN is flying, LH too. I missed something ?Acid-drop wrote: ↑12 Mar 2020, 08:17 President Trump canceled travel from 26 European countries to the US for the next 30 days, beginning Friday at midnight.
He tweeted the ban would apply to "people not goods" after stock futures tumbled on the prospect of a trade freeze.
My comment : good luck finding enough full freighters to do the same job.
Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation
Transit passengers as well as Americans and residents, even coming from a Schengen country, are still allowed to enter the USA.

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation
It's not "no flights from Schengen countries", but "no travel for passengers with a passport from a Schengen country".

My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.

With more and more countries around the world banning eachothers airlines/civilians, is a general closure of international airspace possible?

My return flight to Brussels last Friday was 100% fully booked! Full of travelers from Germany, France etc... who try to return home. Strange they keep the Brussels (and London) route open as most other destinations are cancelled.

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation
The new legislation on package travel (Belgian law 21/11/2017) says that touroperators must be able to execute the travel contract. When an authority tells them they won’t be able to do that, they must adapt the voyage. But there is no possibility to adapt when the return flight is cancelled/forbitten. Sending travellers abroad now could make them stranded, which is already a high financial risk. But it's irresponsible behaviour with the high risk of corona, hence they must cancel.
Individual passengers are allowed to ignore the travel advise, but they then must carry the consequences. Examples of what could happen: airlines may waive assistance and costs because the passenger knew the risk, travel and/or medical insurances will waive claims, they can’t get consular assistance for free when they are stranded, …

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation
I think that - looking at the rapid spread of the virus - more governments will decide to lock down countries and that many more airlines will stop flying for the coming weeks.
