Re: Lufthansa in 2019
Indeed however the business model (of sn vs ew) is not the same (that was my point) and it's recognised as such.

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
It seems to be a major setback for the A339 this order... And a big win for the B789 instead ! Maybe I was not entirely expecting this
Re: Lufthansa in 2019
LH has repeatedly stated that new aircraft have to be justified by profits of a subsidiary, thus no surprise. Or as an other German CEO would say: ‘EBIT macht frei’
Not that I agree with that logic, it should be about potential ROI, not current results.
Re: Lufthansa in 2019
Lufthansa plans to buy a triple-digit number of either B737 MAX (really?) or A320neo to replace its early A319s and CRJs. A decision is due in 2020.
Meanwhile, the airline received its third B777F (D-ALFG, msn 66090)

Not surprisingly, some of those birds are 30 years old !
about the 737Max: if they can get them at a huge discount and all the problems are dealt with, there is no problem for LH

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
Lufthansa says constraints at its Frankfurt hub were behind its recent order for 40 A350s and B787s.

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
I'm sorry, typo, of course I meant 20 and not 30 Altough there are some A320's that are almost 30 years tough

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
Brussels would be interesting as they are always with CRJ-900, A319, A320, A320neo and A321 there...

Lufthansa's Italian subsidiary Air Dolomiti becomes a member of IATA. We often can see Air Dolomiti's E190s at Brussels Airport, operating Lufthansa flights to/from Munich.

Lufthansa acquisition talks with Thomas Cook Group are limited to Condor. Lufthansa is not the only interested party.

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
Lufthansa reports a poor Q1 result : -342 millions euros net loss against -39 millions previous year, nearly 10 times worse.
LX on the other hand succeeds remaining North with 48,3 millions SF profit (a significant drop from last year though which were twice as much).
I don't have the figures for OS, EW and SN yet, let me time to dig further

The Network Airlines of Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines achieved an aggregate Adjusted EBIT of EUR -160 million (prior-year period: EUR 132 million). Adjusted EBIT margin amounted to -3.3 percent, a six-percentage-point decline from the 2.7 percent of the prior-year period. First-quarter unit revenues (adjusted for currency movements) declined 5.2 percent, owing mainly to the difficult European market situation. The long-haul business to and from Asia and North America showed much more encouraging trends. Unit costs (adjusted for fuel and currency influences) were reduced by 0.8 percent.
Eurowings
First-quarter Adjusted EBIT for Eurowings declined to EUR ‑257 million (prior-year period: EUR -212 million). Unit revenues (adjusted for currency movements) were 8.5 percent below their prior-year level, owing mainly to the high pricing pressures on short-haul routes, which account for a larger portion of total revenues at Eurowings than they do at the Network Airlines. Unit costs (adjusted for fuel and currency influences) were 7.2 percent below their prior-year levels. Eurowings benefited here from the absence in this year’s results of the costs of integrating former Air Berlin aircraft, which had been incurred in the prior-year period. Further cost-reduction measures were also initiated that will reap their rewards later in the current year.
