Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Moderator: Latest news team
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Since Eurowings' OO-SCW is officially an SN aircraft, it flew from DUS to Malta this morning as SN9903 (C-check?).
I assume EW is paying the trip though.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Why would EW pay?
The M stands for maintenance in ACMI.

Heard a couple of weeks ago that the new A330 cabin will be presented on 30NOV.
Anybody confirms?

Hasta la victoria siempre.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
that will take a long time as it's not done overnight... might take up to 2 years to install the new cabin as it's a complete new design, not just new seats

With all the movement/growth happening, could somebody post a brief overview of their long haul fleet?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
So 7 are leaving, and only 5 'new' planes (well, yeah...) are scheduled to fly from BRU
Will OO-SFB come back to BRU or not?
And will there be more investment, or will LH/EW keep reducing their 'Longhaul specialist'?
Seems there will be less flying to Africa and North America ahead too

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Careful, they have 14 'own' planes now according to the list posted (so excluding the ones flying for eurowings), so that seems to suggest they are currently over equipped with planes, probably due to a needed overlap? As such, it's normal that a snapshot on today's fleet status shows more leavers than remainers.ezis_bis wrote: ↑06 Nov 2018, 12:59 So 7 are leaving, and only 5 'new' planes (well, yeah...) are scheduled to fly from BRU

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
For a few weeks already, SFE and SFG have been supposed to join the fleet as of October. Still waiting!
SN501 today operated with OO-SCX, an A340 with EW livery!
SFT and SFZ AOG at BRU;
SFY "parked" at LIS;
SFN supposedly leaving the fleet but back on the list, although no longer flying;
SFU due to operate SN371 today but already delayed 4 hours;
Total: 7 SN A330 (maybe) operating today out of a total of 11 theoretically available: a complete debacle!

True, and I understand thatInquirer wrote: ↑06 Nov 2018, 13:13 Careful, they have 14 'own' planes now according to the list posted (so excluding the ones flying for eurowings), so that seems to suggest they are currently over equipped with planes, probably due to a needed overlap? But, only looking at the SN fleet -as it stands- more retirements are planned than newcomers.
So, or they still plan to make it up (Retirements are planned into 2020, so there is ample time), or they don't and SN Longhaul will downsize
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Euh, I'm not sure you really understand what I'm trying to say.
Downsize from what? From the oversized state of today yes, but I'm under the impression they never ever needed more than 10 planes to fly their network with until very recently when they started to renew their fleet: depending on how you count, I now see between 11 and 14 'own' planes listed, excluding those for eurowings, so if they go back to that number at the end, I don't see it as a downsize like you do?
They will just have had a higher number of planes during the refleet program, which is normal, I should guess? How many planes will they operate on their own behalf when everything is renewed?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
OO-SFN is leaving the company, that list isn't updated yet . It's being prepared at maintenance for the phase-out.convair wrote: ↑06 Nov 2018, 13:16 For a few weeks already, SFE and SFG have been supposed to join the fleet as of October. Still waiting!

Why so surprised an EW plane is operating the JFK flight, SN did the same with OO-SFO at DUS but that isn't a big issue apparently.. better get used seeing Eurowings planes at Brussels since SN and EW are in the EW Group and not the greater Lufthansa group

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
If I'm not mistaken, seven SN-dedicated planes are leaving the fleet, with five entering. So indeed a downsize with two planes for their own ops...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The number of 'new' aircraft is equal to the number of aircraft that will leave the fleet:
'new':
SFB (flying for EW at the moment)
SFC (in service since the summer)
SFD
SFE
SFF
SFG
SFH
+ 4 A330's for EW-service
leaving the fleet:
SFM
SFN
SFO
SFU
SFV
SFW
SFY
The only question is if OO-SFB will come back from EW-wetlease?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Two A332 are remaining in the fleet:
OO-SFT : entry 19/03/2012 from LX.
OO-SFZ : entry 31/07/2017 from WK.
Source www.airfleets.net
Maybe there will be some ''new'' aircrafts orders from 2020?

Isn't OO-SFB supposed to come back for SN for next summer season?
