I do not intend to minimize the delays mentioned hereabove, some of them being unacceptable for the pax involved.
However, I have 3 comments:
1. as you know, the ETD refers to the time the planes are supposed to leave the gates, whereas the indicated departure time is the time of actual take off;
2. we do not know the reason(s) of those delays: it can be AB of course, but also AF (late boarding...), the airport, or any other cause;
3. in order to show your total impartiality, feel free to widen your reporting to long haul flights of other companies such as SN, LH, and others...
Fully agree Convair.
I cannot count the number of SN flights to AFI that got delayed because of transfer Pax not having the required visa.
They (rightfully) linger in the lounge and when they show up at the gate the agent spots the problem.
"Palabre" and checked luggage offload. Delay.
But to compare apples wit apples :
According to FR24, between 29JUL17 and 26JUN18, 333 flights (all operated by AF) were to be operated as AF104.
17 got cancelled. 5.1%. About one every 3 weeks.
13 flights left "on-time", i.e. with a delay not exceeding 15 minutes.
12% left with a delay of up to 2 hours.
5% left with a delay of up to 6 hours.
But OK, we are not in an AF bashing exercise here....
