Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
Funny enough I was approached last week, while waiting for my flight to London, for a satisfaction survey of BRU The questions were mostly revolving around the “shopping experience” so I posed the question if the core business of the airport was not getting people on and off a plane efficiently and comfortably? I said I pay about 90€ every month in pax charges to BRU and stated that if the basic services are flawed that people dont care about the shopping experience :p fair to her, she did write everything down

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
I hope they are serious by stating they will modernise the bus station. It will need a LOT more than some new paint! Let's hope it will be a complete transformation into a modern (and bright!) 21st century bus terminal: so more light (no more oldfashion TL-lights) , better signage, decent waiting facilities, etc.

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
Building 3, accommodating the former DHL sorting centre, is now completely demolished.
Re: BRU infrastructure: future
let us also hope that these passengers walking from the drop-off zone do not have to cross the bus station tracks anymore but have their own walking path. That would be safer. Another thing would be to make the entrance to the actual airport building there bigger. It is not built to accommodate for all these passengers coming via the taxi drop off, car drop off, bus station, train station. It is too overcrowded ... A bit of a holistic approach is needed. One suggestion for the airport, please spend as much thought into these things as you do in making nice shopping areas...

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
Why don't you guys just read what the airport says about this?
"...In conjunction with the expansion of the drop-off area, the roads around this area will be redesigned. As a result, through traffic will be largely separated from passengers driving to the drop-off area, providing a smoother and safer traffic flow..."

Brussels is a real prison with two entrance and two exit but I know we are not agree anyway.

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
When I see all this open space... and if they decide to demolish the old and ugly Swissport building next to it, I can't stop thinking this would be an ideal place for a completely new and 'open' terminal.Established02 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2018, 19:32 Building 3, accommodating the former DHL sorting centre, is now completely demolished.

Nothing for the PAX.
They are only after his money.
Came back from a trip yesterday; it feels that the whole "arrival-in-Belgium" is a sad story:
* old fashioned * chaotic * dirty (outside especially * cold and windy * not-maintained * dark
A shame for the country and for the Capital of Europe.
Where goes the benefit of BRU: only to the share-holders and the shopping area. ???
I can only call this amateurism. Are there no professionals at BRU ??
Re: BRU infrastructure: future
^^ I completely agree.
Only the A pier and Connector are up to international standards. The rest of the airport is (as you said) old fashioned, chaotic and dirty. Especially the ENTIRE outside areas.

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
The Old Terminal, or better saying, the leisure terminal will open again fully. The last construction works are on their way to bring in more daylight.
Remember also that this part was heavily damaged during the explosions.
But the good news is that it will become in full service again

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
Do you mean that only TUI will use it, or also Brussels Airlines for the flights taken over from TCAB? Other airlines?

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
It's not 91 in the Top 100: it's 91 in the Top 500. They only mention the first 100: "...Please note that over 500 airports were covered in the survey but we only feature the top 100 listing here..."Ansett wrote: ↑23 Mar 2018, 23:16 A normal 91st place for BRU in the Top 100 of World's Best Airports ranking, normal because of the way the airport has been managed since 22/3 and the way, especially the drop-off zone and parkings work. Totally unacceptable for a "first world" airport.

Re: BRU infrastructure: future
^^ Just look at that picture. That's the entrance to the airport. This is the first impression people get:
- an ugly DHL/Swissport building from the 1970's on the left
- an ugly concrete car park on the right
- and an ugly concrete flyover/viaduct in the middle.
Welcome to "the heart of Europe".
I wonder if mister Arnaud Feist ever passes here. I guess not.
ps: to improve it all, they could build some shelter-structures... like this for example:
But ofcourse they won't.
