Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
if US stayed independent and at *A we still would have the daily PHL, but BRU is a real *A hub thus not that attractive for OneWorld with connecting further on

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
You would think that AA would still offer at least 1 flight a day into BRU to serve its own US network... they could offer 1 stop service from most US cities to BRU through one of their hubs... perhaps MIA would make most sense as there's probably a decent amount of demand for service from BRU to Florida with connections all over the Caribbean, Central & South America which AA services perfectly from its MIA hub... but thats something for BRU Airport to try to get them to come in... It makes way more sense for AA to serve the route than SN.

I guess this scenario is more of a go for United from IAH...JustPlanes wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 06:34 You would think that AA would still offer at least 1 flight a day into BRU to serve its own US network... they could offer 1 stop service from most US cities to BRU through one of their hubs... perhaps MIA would make most sense as there's probably a decent amount of demand for service from BRU to Florida with connections all over the Caribbean, Central & South America which AA services perfectly from its MIA hub... but thats something for BRU Airport to try to get them to come in... Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Back to topic:
Just for information (I don't think it has been mentioned earlier): OO-SNJ (MSN 3161) is leased from Avolon.

In the news today: Brussels airlines to get 2nd hand aircraft from Lufthansa Group:

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
That's only part of the deal. From 2019 to 2025, all the A320s of the LH Group airlines will be standardised, which means that SN will get A320neos at the latest in 2025.increato wrote: ↑25 Jan 2018, 14:32 In the news today: Brussels airlines to get 2nd hand aircraft from Lufthansa Group:

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
SN is not getting any neos, the article is clear About that.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The press release of Lufthansa says otherwise...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
It also states:
"The Lufthansa Group is driving forward the standardisation of its Airbus A320 fleet: Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS are developing a standard specification for the Airbus A320 fleet. At the same time, the airline brands will be preserved by a different brand look."
To me that indicates that there is no intention to get rid of the SN brand...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Or the different brand look could mean for SN that they'll dissapear in EW, All depends on the interpretation of what is mentioned.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The press release does not say that Brussels Airlines wil or will not receive neo's before 2025. It just says that the LH Group (compromising LH, LX, OS, SN, EW) will receive 100 A320neo's. It does not specify which airline will receive how many aircraft. The press release also says nothing about the brand Brussels Airlines, those who think it does are reading too much into it.
Regarding the actual press release, it is only logical that all the group airlines will work together in order to take advantage of being in a group. This will also benefit Brussels Airlines (cost saving). I actually find a bit odd that this wasn't already the case. Well, better late than never.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
SN will take the old A320s from LH
Happen to just check Wiki and their stuff is usually pretty accurate and for some reason now it shows SN taking 6 ex-LH A340s...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Usually Wikipedia mentions the source of its information. For the 6 A340s no source is mentioned. For me it remains two. That can be verified.JustPlanes wrote: ↑26 Jan 2018, 06:09 SN will take the old A320s from LH

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Would be nice if the group de the same with the A330/A340, there are almost 100 spread in the different airlines of the group. Lufthansa, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings and Edelweiss.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Wow, so again not a single new aircraft for SN. They can use the old ones as the others receive brand new ones... The way SN is treated within the LH Group is starting to look like bullying.
I haven't seen one single action taken by LH that suggests that they take SN and its future as a separate airline (within the group) seriously. I fear the worst for the future...
