I really think that such pessimism isn't necessary or that there'll be bad management. Terzakis probably knows what he's doing and how to run an airline. It's not that he'll start an airline when he already knows from the beginning that the project will fail.
...probably...? What's his record?
And, btw, people launch doomed companies every day,...for a lot of different reasons.

Too many people on this forum want to see AB fail out of pure SN protectionism ... sad
I am certainly not one of those many then, should you have been willing to suggest any such thing.
I want however to see prudent governance from our administration, especially when it comes to high risk applications where one could pose valid questions as to their not-so-obvious choice for Belgium.
I understand you would like to see Brussels Airlines face as much headwind as possible and are thus frustrated by the fact this project is not getting signed off as quickly as they had hoped, but may I point out Air Belgium is aimed at a market completely outside of the scope of Bru.air's business focus, so anybody trying to relate the 2 (be it positive or negative) is simply disillusional as the two aren't even competitors to start with?
I would love to see Air Belgium succeed however they annoy the hell out of me due to the stupid livery It's just sad that you can't paint a the correct order of colours on the fuselage when you call your airline "Air BELGIUM". And when confronted with it they just say "it was never the intention to resemble a Belgium flag", yeah right.

I fly SN in Europe and I hope with all my heart that AB will succeed his bet even if I remain skeptical: no plane, no AOC but uniforms ! But I wish it ...

Niky Terzakis is not a guy likely to fail. He has been in aviation all his life and never went bankrupt, unlike the CEO of another Belgian airline that I will not mention.

Now back to topic please!
Maybe we can continue the fact that Inquirer brought up = taxpayers money should only be used as for long term investments. Not to allow a handfull of people to realize their dreams. Not to buy a rescue vessel in case the ship breaks up.
Every business holds a risk, and I'm absolutely sure Terzakis and Sumchenko had a solid business plan when they've set up sa/nv Air Belgium, back in February 2016. However, they now have to accept that the Belgian CAA strongly disagrees with their business plan.
"taxpayers money" = SFPI and SRWI - Société fédérale de participations et d’investissement (SFPI) and Société régionale wallonne d’investissement. In Dutch: Federale Participatie- en Investeringsmaatschappij and Gewestelijke Investeringsmaatschappij voor Wallonië).

Just check his profile on LinkedIn.
That's what I mean. He won't start such a project if he isn't sure that there is a certain market for his project.
