Unfortunately not really clear how it's going to look like. Anyone more info? When will it be ready?

Marcel Buelens, CEO of airport operator Egis, said yesterday that Jetairfly would expand operations to approximately 25 flights per week at Antwerp as of next year.

He further said that Egis is discussing with various airlines to fly from Antwerp to cities in England (Manchester, Birmingham), Germany (Berlin) and Poland (Warsaw).

The surface of the terminal would also be doubled.

Article in Flemish regional newspaper 'Gazet van Antwerpen' on 18 October 2016 Jetair (Tui) breidt volgend jaar uit in Antwerpen

Coincidence it was published the day before Jetairfly's rebranding to TUIfly?

This news for sure isn't the 'latest' news but in any case I missed it completely and don't remember reading anything about it here:

Antwerp Airport organises Runway Run on New Year's Day
http://flightlevel.be/51290/antwerp-air ... unway-run/

As far as my memory serves (pretty far, but becoming less reliable :-) ), this is a first for a 'major' belgian airport... For those aviation lovers with enough athletic condition and not afraid of the cold, it seems fun to be able to run around on the runway and taxiways.

Small correction needed on the article, as it states that running around on the airfield has no impact on air traffic "as the airfield is closed on 1st of January in any case": for the first time in a very looong time, the airport will be open on a New Year's Day (and X-Mas for that matter), albeit only for a couple of hours. But indeed no impact as the opening hours for the TUI flight, are before the run.

Indeed, on their facebook page Antwerp Airport announced Chalair stops all activity at the airport. As a raison they say Chalair needs the planes and crews in France for their growing network.

The area around Antwerp Airport had a total power failure on Monday evening as from 22h31, lasting for some 1,5 hours. The ANR aerodrome was closed then and all expected flights had landed, so probably no problems there.

It seems to be the area besides the airport: as the Luchthavenlei, Saffierstraat, Vosstraat and other streets on the side of the terminal are not affected. I wasn't there, but my guess would be the airport was not affected at all.

We weren't affected either so I think for ANR everything was also fine. I went to bed during the power failure and if I remember well there was light at the airport around that time.

The Antwerp Airport Run, planned for 1st January 2017, is cancelled. Police is understaffed to secure the event.

(announcement from today, so "2016 news" indeed)
