Flight BRU-ZRH on LX

Post by Koendc »

Flight: LX 783
Date : 02 JAN 2015
Aircraft: AVRO RJ 100
From-To: BRU-ZRH
Seat: 4F
Scheduled/Effective Time of Departure: 18:50/19:03 (GMT + 1)
Scheduled/Effective Time of Arrival: 20:05/20:06(GMT +1)
Scheduled/Effective Duration of the flight: 01 hrs 15 mins/01 hrs 03 mins

The plane arrived a little bit later than expected and thus we had to wait a bit longer before we could board our plane. Although it was not busy at all at Brussels Airport, the load factor in this "jumbolino" (as the Swiss call these RJ100s) was near 100%.

Economy class was 95% in lf. Business class had a lf of 100%. Surprising to see was that there were 7 people sitting in business class. This was strange because there were only two rows (2-3 configuration) and hence you would expect only 6 seats. This ment that on the first row, the two left seats where both occupied.

As I was sitting in Economy class in the 4F window seat, it surprised me how much leg space we actually had. on the photo (bad quality) you can see this very well. I think this is good to know, because now you have the advantage of sitting at the window side and you have enough leg space as well.

Safety instructions were given in English by the cabin crew. A voice told us the instructions in French and Dutch. As we were climbing out of Brussels after we took off from 25L, I was surprised by the many football fields that you could see out of the air (floodlight). Something that I didn't see yet in other countries.

During the whole flight lights stayed dimmed, which was cosy in the beginning, but became a little bit disturbing when the service started. It was almost not possible to see whether there was a glass of coke or wine on your tish.
After 20 minutes, we were offered a drink (if kindly asked even 2: a hot and cold) and a fresh piece of bread with cheese and light curry (strange combination, but not bad at all).

When the descent started, the captain friendly greeted us and informed us about the (clear) weather conditions in Zurich. The cabin crew then quickly offerd us a choclate (the best I ever had on a flight) and 15 laters we landed.

Overall, the flight was pretty nice and service was very good.
I think the only thing SWISS has to improve on these flights is its punctuality. Too often there are long delays on this line (4 out of five times in the last half year I used this service).

Thank you for your first (and nicely illustrated) trip report.

Safety instructions only in English by the stewardess? Not even German or Schwyzerdütch? Otherwise, nice to hear that the service is so good, despite the monopoly that Swiss enjoys on the route.

By the way, did they mention the codeshare with SN?

I take this flight at least once a week and from experience it seems they simply refer to "STAR ALLIANCE partners" onboard iso citing them individually and by name, probably because this flight carries a lot of codeshares?

A lot of codeshares indeed: only SN ! Other LX flights from BRU also codeshare with UA or SQ; but LX783 only with SN.
