Frequent psychological/emotional checks? It would be a good thing but the then you have to do it daily when before each flight? What would happen if something happen to you in the morning and you want to end your life straight away. Some airline had a system of unfit day for this but the crew took take to much advantage of this system and the airline stopped it.

If there is 2 people in the flight deck. The pilot will have or to try to crash the plane while the CCM is in the flight deck, the CCM will then have the time to open the flight deck door manually to call for help.

Or the second solution will be to kicknout the CCM from the flight deck, but this will be physically hard to kick out soleone from the flight deck mainly on airbus where the flight deck door open toward the direction of the flight deck.

In an inverted dive with sufficient G-forces, your cabin crew member in the cockpit won't go anywhere.

- IRS's OFF
- FAC's ELAC's SEC's OFF
- push full forward full throttle full side stick
- 5 sec's all is gone whoever stays on the jumpseat...
- ENGINE OFF whenever you feel it, and if necessary...

So it is. No way you can prevent suicide or private hijacking from an isolate.

The hijacked Boeing 767 was escorted by Italian Eurofighters and subsequently by French Mirages, but not by Swiss interceptors because the hijacking happened outside office hours (I kid you not).

That begs the question: can a French/Italian fighter shoot down an Ethiopian commercial airplane over Switzerland, without authorisation from the Swiss leadership? I guess that it will take a lot of time to get the authorisations as the Swiss leadership has to give the Italian/French airforce the authorisation, before they transmit that to the pilots...and the pilots would be court-martialled if they shoot before getting the order...

If I was a defense minister of some kind, I would have pilots sitting in their cockpit at the runway holding point at bases 100km apart with an intercept time of less than 5 minutes over the entire territory.

Of course it's always a trade-off between costs and safety and obviously the Swiss went for the lower costs at the cost of safety. Is it worthwile to have such a service avialable 24/7 when you are a country with a relative limited territory in Europe in a time their are very very few hijackings worldwide (of wich the vast majority are not even major threats to the aircraft/its passengers)? Especially when surrounding countries can help (of course it is obviously a problem when there is a lack of fast coordination between the respective people that are supposed to make the crucial decisions). One can say that even one incident is one too much, but with such low chances of occurance (much much lower than the chance of a fatal crash for example) and the need to save money in the current economy (even for the Swiss) it is a decision which I can understand.
I can also assume they have arranged these things with their surrounding countries including things on who is responsible when a certain thing happens or who has the final word and what if it takes too long to communicate,....

I find it quite ironic in light of the results of the Swiss mass immigration referendum. If Switzerland wants to be perceived as the country that eagerly takes from its neighbours, but is reluctant to give anything back (i.e. access to their labour market), they're on the right track.

keep in mind that approaches to GVA are over France, almost up to touch down at GVA.
