Four A350-900s for Brussels Airlines ???

Post by sn26567 »

I don't know if it is a joke, but the Brussels Airlines page in Dutch on Wikipedia was modified yesterday evening by user 94.226.117.17 ( a Telenet residential user) to include four A350-900 aircraft as future aircraft in the Brussels Airlines fleet.

Hmm. I don't believe this. There is only a minor chance that this source is reliable and then we still don't know how he got this information.
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

If true, I congratulate SN on a wise choice of aircraft, no matter what they use it for. The A359 is a remarkable aircraft with great fuel efficiency and very low maintenance cost.

Also, an A333 has been added on wikipedia?

I usually only look at the English pages of Wikipedia and that one doesn't show the A350's. It does show an extra A320 which we know of and an extra A333 which is not confirmed, but present at the Wiki page of SN for quite some time I believe.

But actually I don't believe anything on wikipedia unless it is confirmed...I believe the A359 would be a very good fit for SN's long haul future, but I don't think they already ordered some (or will in the near future) and it's a strange number...

If they order them, I hope that they will come with at least 6 A321NEO's to cross-use between Africa and other medium haul routes. That would help them a lot on their shorter African sectors, even if not everyone agrees with it.

Keep on dreaming, forget the A350's for SN.

Coincidence or not? I just read on the VRT news website that SN will renew and expand their fleet in the coming years. They have come to an agreement with LH about this. (Dutch: http://www.deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws/e ... /1.1853454)

They only talk about one extra A330 though...

Tomorrow at 2pm will be a press conference with more details.

Maybe they get them through LH when they find they have better use with SN than with LH. They have 25 of them on order.

Could be the case indeed. If SN is going to get brand new long haul aircraft, I'm quite sure they'll be sources through LH as they can get much more favourable conditions from Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer as a big client for all of them. But I would be suprised if SN announces a long haul replacement before a confirmation of a full take over by LH. Short/medium haul fleet yes, but not long haul.

The article clearly states they reached an agreement with primary shareholder Lufthansa about the renewal of the fleet. So, in my opinion, there is a very big chance the aircraft will come from LH.

If it will be A359 ... well, that's something else. It would be very nice ofcourse, but I would not put my money on it. I would however put my money on LH 333's (which are younger than SN's 333's) being transfered to SN once LH starts receiving 359's.

I would think SN would stick with the A333, to me the best outfit in town for them for a long while.
SN don't need the range the A350 offers and is by no means financially ready to invest expensively in the latest technology.
More so when the A333 is still offering very good yields for the middle to long range missions SN use them for.
They have the know-how on that aircraft, the skills and everything why invest in new equipment when not absolutely required ?
Better continue acquiring less expensive A333's on the 2nd hand market, they need tens of them for cheap because their present l/h network is a joke.
And for the rare long hauls, the A332 is viable or the new version of the A333 but of course more expensive bcs new.
Also they need to invest heavily in the n/b field, I see the CSerie Bombardier possibly fit nicely in the intra-europe network. After all LX already have 30 units of them firmly booked ... SN should follow suit as soon as the much awaited performance figures are available.

No long fleet anouncement was made at today's press conference. The A350-900 has been removed from the Dutch wikipedia page. I thus consider this thread as closed. Please continue the discussion about SN's fleet in other topics.
