any update about the EY - QR and 9W slots?

EY has changed their mind it seems: it's stays like it is with 8 weekly flights.
9W has still the same slots as before

It seems that 9W has returned their W13 slots for AMS, thus I would guess that nothing will change at BRU and thus YYZ and the scissor hub remains in W13.

They just delay their transfer, it will probably be for S14

SN was not ready to anticipate so quickly, so it is just good for SN that 9W stays. it will give them the opportunity to prepare this on a good way.

But not for BRU as any reductions by 9W will be seen in the traffic figures immediately, not to mention the loss of revenue for losing 4 daily A330s.

That depends what the deal is between EY and the Indian government. The dismantling of the BRU scissor hub can only be done if EY is allowed to funnel the pax via AUH. At present, the Indian government doesn't actually want this and in order to get approval to buy the stake in 9W, EY had to show they're not controlling 9W. By not going ahead with dismantling the scissor hub at BRU EY can argue they're not in control. However, maybe we can better discuss this in the EY invest in 9W thread (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=49081&start=20).

Around December the flights of Air Serbia (ex-JAT Airways) from Belgrade to Brussels will be carried out by A319-100 instead of B737-300.

Seems ET decided to continue operating to BRU via CDG, despite earlier messages. Confirmation will follow soon and flight will be reloaded in reservation system asap. Good news for Brussels Airport !

But bad news for SN 8-). Yet, I'm happy ET decided to stay at BRU.

Here's a link to what De Morgen (in Dutch) is reporting this morning: http://www.demorgen.be/dm/nl/996/Econom ... egen.dhtml

There is a hint at the possible reasons for the decision not to leave BRU ; including a reference to "another carrier stopping its flights to Addis ex-AMS" ... does/did KL fly to ADD? ... or is this a reference to a cargo (flower?) route ?

Yes, KLM stopped with the flights from Amsterdam to Addis Ababa , via Khartoum, last March.

KLM reportedly pulled AMS-ADD in March13, while ET indicated to pull ADD-BRU in July13.

So ET already had this market knowledge of "another carrier stopping its flights to Addis ex-AMS" when they decided to stop ADD-BRU. :? So how can this then be a new element that made them change their mind and reverse the decision?

Great news in deed 8-) . But i wonder if they isn't a link with the closure of bookings for Munich. The airline planned to begin service on 01 December 2013.

Somehow I have a feeling EY are not taking the opportunity to "bag it up" in BRU by going to 12 weekly. Doesn't this leave the door open for QR to expand, or some day EK to come in. With 12 weekly, almost double daily, EY would have established themselves quite well at BRU, they would have a strong foothold, making it more difficult for their Gulf competitors.

As mentioned before, we have an idea of what they want to do. But is up to the authorities to approve before they can start moving. Perhaps S14?

What do you mean?
Ethiopian Airlines planned to start Addis - Munich - Stockholm, from December 2013, and for unknow reason they have closed bookings, while they were promoting Munich destination on their website. They did same thing with Madrid, Singapore, Hanoi and Manilla, bookings closed some weeks before to start service to these destinations.

Of course there are so many reasons, but it's just hypothesis 8-). However, according to Statistics shown on this forum, Addis - Bru - Addis seems to be a money-making route for ET.

MUC was open for reservation for only 13 days (they opened reservation on July 11th and closed reservations on July 24th). Moreover, I think one can think of good arguments why they decided not to open reservations to MUC. ADD - ARN is a busy market and adding a stop both ways (instead of the usual tech stop nothbound only) wasn't prbably well received in the market. Thus this has nothing to do with BRU.

Which statistics? Unless you have inside information on the yield and associated costs it's very dificult to assess if it is money making (not to mention that it can depend on how you calculate costs). The cargo argument seems irrelevant as ET has dedicated cargo flights to Belgium. If you look at the reasoning for returning to BRU you'll see that they underestimated the costs of parking a 767 at CDG. Hence it's probably cheaper to fly the 767 to BRU, pick up some pax and pay the fee at BRU.
