departure of AirDC Bae146 OO-DJJ ?

Post by cathay belgium »

Hi,

Someone send me a pic today of OO-DJJ , AIR DC -tiger tail- !
It seems it took off..
For going to his new owner (was this one sold ? ) or did it left for his paintjob for the third Korongo plane?
If anyone knows the reason of his departure today 8/8/2011 ?
THX

At least I guess BRU get rid of a nice tail which we were used to see there for some years no ?
Pity,loved it..

Heard it several times on the tower frequency last Sunday afternoon, probably performing engine tests.

DJJ is earmarket as second Korongo Bae146, but contrary to MJE it has been in long term storage at BRU.
Recently however, it got an overhaul to prepare it back for service at Brussels Airlines maintenance facilities.

SN is known to have reserved some slots at Air Livery this month and has already sent over one of their last RJs to still wear the hybrid livery (the one with the red line), so if DJJ left BRU yesterday, it was likely heading to the paint shop to get the Korongo livery applied to it, especially with the date of the ferry flights nearing.

The days of seeing old or hybrid liveries are almost over at SN, which will be quite unique, because ever since the mid 1990s, Sabena and then Brussels Airlines have always had aircraft still flying in already replaced colour schemes of them, waiting for a repaint!

OO-DJJ was a test flight. Yes, it's heading to the paint shop at the end of the week.
Look out for OO-MJE. This one will be gone for a while longer...

I hope so !
Maybe worth the mention: OO-LTM flew his last flight on 23 July so probably, he's getting ready for his Korongo adventure ! Fingers crossed,

O0-DJJ has been used for the noon flight to PRG today, as also a couple of days ago, BTW.
Nice to see this old lady back in service from time to time, because she stood idle for a terribly long time! :)

"OO-LTM had another test flight this afternoon."

Edit: reportedly this was an empty ferry flight and not a test flight.

I spotted OO-LTM on the BCN apron this morning. It was gone around noon (probably departed for BRU ?)
Only took pictures with my cell phone...
