The works that were due to end on 20 september are now announced until 15 october ! (such is the "Région Wallonne") - and perhaps more as, at the end of the text, one can read :
During this school holiday period, may we remind you that it is preferable to arrive at the airport at least three hours before your flight departs.
the next school holiday is on the first week of november ...

Ryanair start a route between Brussels south (CRL) and Volos in Greece !!
Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news
Ryanair stopped Figari Corse from CRL Brussels South !
Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news
And this is why:

Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news
A quick-and-dirty translation: Ryanair discontinued service to Figari from Charleroi (aka "Brussels South") and Orio al Serio (alias "Milano Nord-Este") following the non-payment of their local subsidy. This was in itself the consequence of non-payment by the municipalities of Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio.
Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news
With a load factor of 87% between CRL and Figari, it seems that Ryanair should be able to finance the flights without subsidies!

Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news
The route was seasonal, like some FR routes, and ended on october 31st, end of the summer season.
There are not that many visitors to Corsica in winter, it's not Majorca - and the load factor in winter would be far less than 87 %, in my opinion.

Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news
Only for info:
The Charleroi Airport Website still show ongoing works on the road leading to the terminal until
22/12/2010. On 19/11/2010, I used the "south acces" (coming from "Rue Ransart") via the
recently opened south part on the "Rue d´Heppignies" until the round point next to the
entry of the airport ("Rue Charles Lindberg") to acces the airport.
The north-section of the "Rue d´Heppignies" is indeed still closed due to works (north of the round point).
I just wanted to inform, that now only a part of the "Rue d´Heppignies" is still closed.
Due to the info in the website, on could think that the complete Road is still closed!
Cheers,
Olli
