Don't think it is for a soccer team as the soccer season is already over and AFAIK there are no international tournaments in Belgium or Spain for the moment.

US serial presentation is not always so easy I am afraid. I assume that painted on to these helos is a serial 24589 & 24642 which you have assumed follows the C-17 (USAF) way of presenting. In fact these 2 are US Army aircraft and are from fiscal year 1987 so are 87-24589 and 87-24642. Confused? Join the club!!

Infact I had a paper where the regs where written on.
So I assumed that these where to correct ones and because I can't check the reg visually myself the error was made
And indeed who ever invented the US-system of militairy regs it must be a smart guy
Military serials are just a great way to give yourself a headache. As there is no International convention, unlike for civil aircraft, each country develops its own system. One can't tell at a glance where a mil aircraft is from and some don't even paint the serials on the aircraft.
The US system is actually quite straghtforward with each of the major forces having its own system (apart from the Marines)
But do be careful. If you get into mil it can take over your life - much less predictable than airliners to spot. Not as much variety these days as when I stared but still a bigger buzz when you find something unusual lurking in the corner of a mil field.
