I think you're right, or almost...

I don't know whether it is an F.221 or F.222 (or other variant?)
If you search on google/images, it's is on the second page...

Actually, I never heard of this plane before, but nice looking nose :)

No, no Farman. We're looking at something uglier and weirder here.

Fokker 27's unknown aircraft.

Post by Abale »

I'll make a few guesses as I recall that kind of nose.
It is a pre WW2 bomber, 2 engines, fixed landing gear, fabric covered body and wings, anyway.
My first idea was a German Junkers 86 but the front turret and the side windows might not be exactly the same.
As second I would say a French Lioré , as third a British Handley Page and as fourth some Italian aircraft, but I need to dig it further out.
Am I close, do I make a chance?

Ok, don't know what to say but I'll help you a bit.

It's not a bomber but a trainer, first flight 1944 (so definitely not pre war), retractable landing gear, centre section is all-metal, the rest is wood and it's designed and built in germany.
You're right it's a twin engined aircraft...

So that's a lot of information and I hope you can complete your quest. :)

Horten 229 or also called Gotha 229.

easy one. I thought you would have gone for the difficult swiss delta wing prototype.

anyway, I still don't have pictures, so fire some more.

No, it's not the Horten 229, the only thing I can say: look more carefully.

Do you mean Horten IX? Same aircraft, actually.

P.s. It must be the Ho 229, the pic you posted is a blown-up version of the pic Regi linked to.

Yes, I know Ho IX and Ho 229 are actually the same, but the pic in the link regi provided is not a HoIX/Ho229, it's a mistake in that site.

The Ho IX or Ho 229 is a twin jet flying wing, with some big inlets in the leading edge and has a different landing gear than the one in my pic.

I knew this would lead to problems.
But be carefull: are you sure that the pictures of a Ho229 in american "custody" are in fact a Ho229, or just some wooden mock ups?

I know 100% for sure that the one in my pic is not the Ho229, it's its predecessor, with propellor engines.

Two images to make it more clear:

back
