What I remember being told at the time of the fire is that this aircraft was insured for less than what a second-hand one would normally cost...Roser wrote:Thre was told the time of the fire on the CH02 that a second-hand one would be bought with the moey got from the insurance.
Or does our country needs to save more money once again ?

The money should not come from the insurance of the Army, but from the insurance of Sabena Technics: they were the ones at fault. And their insurance should pay for the actual value of the plane, no less!Ozzie1969 wrote:What I remember being told at the time of the fire is that this aircraft was insured for less than what a second-hand one would normally cost...
Therefore, I cannot understand why the plane should not be replaced. Maybe the money will be used for the future A400M?

And now... will it be a second-hand canadian or a second-hand US plane. See www.baha.be. Why not a brandnew (on the long-term cheaper) J-version?
And Australian C-130???

I hope they remove all mice if it's a museum piece...BAHA wrote:It is now reported that this replacement aircraft should be the ex USAF Lockheed C-130E Hercules with serial 64-0552 (c/n 382-4047), build in 1965 and immediately converted into weather reconnaissance WC-130E .It was withdrawn from use and stored on July 13th, 1993 as CF130 at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) of Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. It was purchased by Evergreen Aviation of McMinnville, Oregon in February 1999, registered as N130EV and used as freighter aircraft. Withdrawn from use, this Hercules is currently on display at the Evergreen Aviation Museum and Educational Institute, McMinnville, Oregon .
