Strange indeed. Back in February, ILFC announced the lease of two second-handMrAirbus wrote:Does any one know why they are getting this plane?

A330-200's to Vietnam Airlines in early 2007, but this is a larger -300 series and
we're 4 months in advance !
ILFC press release : http://www.ilfc.com/press/2006%20Vietnam%20Airlines.htm
However, the livery suits the aircraft very well and I'm curious which routes it will serve !

Indeed, business is booming....sab319 wrote:one of the worlds most beautiful aircraft in one the worlds most beautiful colorshemes, just beautiful!
And indeed, in one the worlds most beautiful colorshemes... flying for a Communist state, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as national airline, they avoid red as much as possible.
The only comminist symbol is the flag on the tail....

Except they already have 4 787-8s on order.MrAirbus wrote:I really hope they go and order the A350 in the future!
You will have understood, that I am not a big fan of communist regimes.
Recently a Vietnamese doctor got sentenced 5 years, for translating an article called: Qu'est-ce que democratie? What is democracy?.
Even if american companies want to do business for money with regimes that do not respect democracy, such regimes do not deserve your financial support by buying tickets on their airline.
Democracy is worth protecting it.

I have been 3 times in Vietnam, and all I can say is that it is not communist at all. The dollar rules. But the one party system, under the cover of communism is used to enslave, torture, oppress their own people. There is a big outflux of brains. Every educated vietnamese I have met the last 15 years has emigrated to Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, The States etcetera. No freedom at all.
About Vietnam airlines: it is the best connection between Bangkok and Saigon. Yes, Saigon. Read my lips, s a i g o n. HCM city is an insult to the millions of people who live in Saigon- a city named after the river the Sai Gon, which runs through it.

Here is how Vietnam sees its aviation future:
Airlines find Viet Nam skies friendly: an impetus for international airlines adding new routes in Viet Nam.
About 30 international airlines now provide services into Viet Nam.
How long can it stay communist, after that?
