It is feared that as much as 150 victims might have found their death.
My sincere thoughts for their families...

124 bodies recovered, 71 people in hospital in Siberia air crash.
The pilot told air traffic controllers that he had landed and then contact with him was lost.*
"The plane landed and the crew told the controller that the landing was over," But rain had affected the runway, which could explain why the plane overshot the runway before plowing to the airport fence and then into a collection of garages.
The Airbus A-310 veered off the runway at Irkutsk airport and hit a concrete wall before bursting into flames.
A technical fault might have been the cause of the crash, the landing gear may have caught fire as the plane landed.
"According to one of the versions, a fire broke out inside the airbus when the plane landed"
In January 1994, a Tu-154 aircraft crashed on takeoff from Irkutsk, killing 124 people.
In 1997, a military transport plane came down in a residential area killing 76.
In July 2001, a Tu-154 crashed in its final landing procedure with the loss of all 145 people on board.
*Was he already preparing to abandon ship?
Wonder if they will admit human failure this time?
Looks to me, like the siberian crew ran away from the disaster, leaving the passengers grilling. Now it is the time for the crew to be given a grilling.
Hope I'am taking the wrong conclusions as too hasty, but usually my conclusions tend to be close to the truth.

July, in aviation. (I never fly)

The airlines that have most of this type are SINGAPORE AIRLINES (17) for pax and FEDERAL EXPRESS flies A310-200F (41).
Yes, Andre, I might as well have been passenger on Clipper Freedom.
I heard on satellite, a French reporter explaining that many russian made aircraft are replaced by western aircraft in the Federation and that crews and maintenance do not have the skills to handle or maintain these "new" aircraft.
He conclude also in human failure.
The story was indeed that russian aircraft and cars could be repaired with a halfpounder hammer (and sickle). And that nowadays the aircraft are more delicate....
And July was always a 'special' month in avaiation:
Remember, TWA Flight 800 on July 17, 1996.
In July 1988 the US Navy battle cruiser Vincennes accidentally shot down an Iranian Airliner over the Persian Gulf, killing all 290 people on board.
1970 July 5, Toronto: Air Canada DC-8 crashed on landing approach; 109 dead.
1971 July 30, Morioka, Japan: Japanese Boeing 727 and F-86 fighter collided in midair; 162 died.
July 11, Paris: Boeing 707 of Varig Airlines, en route to Rio de Janeiro, crashed near airport, killing 122 of 134
1989 July 19, Sioux City, Iowa: United Airlines DC-10 crashed during an emergency landing. Out of a total of 296 aboard, 111 were killed, 172 were injured, and 13 escaped unharmed.
1991 July 11, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Canadian-chartered DC-8 carrying pilgrims returning to Nigeria crashed after takeoff, killing 261 people.
2000 25 July: Air France Concorde en route for New York crashes into a hotel outside Paris shortly after takeoff, killing 113 people, including four on the ground.
A TU-154 crashes on 04 July 2001
All 145 people aboard a Tu-154 plane were killed when it inexplicably turned 180 degrees and fell to the ground on that Wednesday on its final approach to the Irkutsk airport, en route from Yekaterinburg in the Ural mountains to the Russian port of Vladivostok, killing 133 passengers and 10 crew..
2002 1 July: Seventy-one people, many of them children, die when a Russian Tupolev 154 aircraft on a school trip to Spain collides with a Boeing 757 transport plane over southern Germany.
27 July: A fighter jet crashes into a crowd of spectators in the west Ukrainian town of Lviv, killing 77 people, in what is the world's worst air show disaster.
2003 8 July: A Boeing 737 crashes in Sudan shortly after take-off, killing 115 people on board. Only one passenger, a small child, survived.
2005 16 July: An Equatair plane crashes soon after take-off from Equatorial Guinea's island capital, Malabo, west of the mainland, killing all 60 people on board.
2006 9 July: A Russian S7 Airbus A-310 skids off the runway during landing at Irkutsk airport in Siberia.
And AF 358 from Paris scheduled to arrive at Toronto at 3:35 p.m. EDT. then something went badly wrong, and the plane overshot its intended runway 24 Left by about 200 metres, all 309 people aboard on that Tuesday survived the ordeal, two days after July 2005.

Flying is not about superstition nor statistics.
We should not consider an airplane crash as statistics or data, but as a tragedy.
I feel sorry for the families of the victims.
My condoleances to all fathers, mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters of the victims, including the families of the crew members, real heroes to my eyes.

Excuse me, but could you please try and be less silly? This will happen again, and again and again and again, and still aviation will be a very safe mode of travel. And anyway, people will continue to use this mode of travel, for a multitude of reasons.fokker_f27 wrote:That's terrible! I hope it will never happen again... :(
And yes, TERRIBLE it is, my humble voice joins the chorus of sympathy with those remaining, bereft of their beloveds.

C'mon! nothing superstition about that, just facts.foxtrot_lima_yankee wrote:Flying is not about superstition nor statistics.

Why does it happen more often in IKT than in let's say DTW, SZG or MST.
