Post by sab319 »

Must of you will probably have seen this pics already, but for the rest I wanted to show them, since it's pretty bad. Porbably a write-off...

8O Jesus!! I can't believe they didn't lose hydraulics on the left wing!! That damage looked devastating. Any word on the whole situation and how it all happened?? The aircraft is definitely a write-off, BUT, it's only the -200.

767-200 not worth repairing

Post by fleabyte »

considering it is probably 30 years old, and many cycles. I saw pics of American scrapping (4) 767-200 in the desert earlier this year, planes that had no damage. They were the first 767's built and delivered to AA

It is amazing 767 are being scrapped while I just visited an air freight compnay doing a complete rebuild on an old DC8

It's actually a B767-200ER built in 1987, but a plane of 19 years old isn't much worth anymore so they will scrap it and use it for spare parts to keep the remaning 767 fleet flying I guess.

The plane was on the ground doing an engine run. The engine exploded, wich caused the damage.
The maintenance personnel, the only people on the plane, evacuated the plane and alerted the fire department.

Are all the pictures of the incident offline? Because neither the links to JetPhotos.Net work, neither I can find the picture posted this morning on Airlines.net...

More information can be found on their blog

Enjoy and save while still available  (maybe on coppermine )
