you can fly BA without the un-accomanied minors service from 12.
And never, never, put someone through any unaccompanied minors service unless it involves a transit.

I've gone through a UM once with QN. Oh god....

When I fly BA alone, I NEVER get asked questions about why I'm alone. It's great
