Brussels to Seattle/Vancouver: any suggestions?

Post by chrisflyer »

Hello all,

I will need to travel from Brussels to Vancouver and back from Seattle to Brussels in March. Any suggestions from you guys about what airline or routing to go for in order to have the most interesting travel experience?

Thanks,

Chris

You have several ways to go to Vancouver:
Brussels-Frankfurt-Vancouver (all with Lufthansa)
Brussels-Heathrow-Vancouver (BMI,BA,SNBA... and Air Cananda)

And from Seartle to Brussels you have:
Seattle-Copenhagen-Brussels (all with SAS)
Seattle-Washington-Brussels (all with United)

Otherwise you have for both routes 3 stops.
Have a nice holiday there

From BRU, SEA is a more cheaper destination than YVR. And a little faster too.

BRU-SEA(1 stop)
Around same price(+/- 40 euro deference):
Delta/Song connect in JFK or ATL - 767-300, 757
American Airlines connect in JFK - 767-300, 757
Continental connect in EWR - 767, 737-700
US Airways connect in IAD/PHL/FRA - 757, 767-300, A319, A330-300, A321
Nortwest/KLM connect in AMS/MSP - F70, A330-300, A330-200, 757-300
The fastest way - around 80 euro deference between this and cheapest one:
British Airways connect in LHR - A319, B747-400

Decide what u want to do. get quick and confortable at destination(British Airways) or fly with a wide range of airplanes and see as many airports u can(US Airways).

Flew BRU - YVR in January round trip on BA for 617€. Service was great between LHR and YVR and very basic between BRU and LHR.

Note that on US carriers you don't get alcoholic drinks for free on intercontinental fligth and you no food on domestic flights (not even on transcontinental flights). In economy that is.

I wonder if one can book BRU-YVR and SEA - BRU for a good price. I know it possible when you return form a different airport in the same country, but form a different country???

Thereá another possibility to go to YVR: via Amsterdam with KLM.

Another strange bird to go to Vancouver is zoom (www.flyzoom.com). They fly form London, Glasgow and Manchester.

Cheers,

Stij

P.S. Vancouver is great!

Flying to Vancouver direct say from London and avoiding the US completely will save you at least 1 hour (or more) with queuing to clear US customs.

The worst is arriving after a 11 jour flight and having to join different queues and be fingerprinted on arrival in the US. Then you've got dept of agriculture to clear and in some intl' US airports and extra customs check of your bags and even more questions!

FlyZoom from London direct to Vancouver and do have a good reputation for offering low fares but with a full service and inflight entertainment.

Thanks for the good advice. However, the company booked for me the following routing. Interesting to say the least...

Saturday 4 March:
BRU-LHR on BD
LHR-SFO on UA
SFO-YVR on UA

Tuesday 7 March:
YVR-SEA on AC (Jazz)

Thursday 9 March:
SEA-ORD on UA
ORD-FRA on LH
FRA-BRU on LH

Any thoughts?

Will post a comprehensive trip report when I get back.

Cheers,

Chris

Why not BRU-SFO with UA? (via IAD)

That would have been an option, but:
- it was not offered while booking;
- I reckon that the 777 on LHR-SFO is superior to the 763 on BRU-IAD and the narrowbody (319?) on IAD-SFO.

I can tell you one thing, unless you have the E170 on AC jazz, you are not going to have a fun flight. AC has been extrememly poor when i have flown with them. You're lucky you have a short flight

Your company wants to cash on "Miles & More" for the whole trip!

Incidentally: IAD-SFO on UA is also a 767.

It's the same plane so you don't need to transfer in IAD

Yes you do, as you have to go thru immigration get your luggage , have to clear customs annd have to recheck your luggage. Even if it's the same plane that continues to SFO

Welcome to thhe USA
