The European Parliament flies to Strasbourg

Post by sn26567 »

Lots of traffic to Strasbourg this morning. The two SN flights are converted from AR1 to A319. In addition, there are two SLR charters, resp. by B734 and B738.

    SN has only 3 A319's.

How can they that easily switch from Avro to A319 ?

The SLR solution is understandable, they are happy with
    extra flights.

Lien,

I think one of the A319 is used for flights to Helsinki, and other destinations where there is sometimes a need for this capacity. I think they switch it quite often: Geneva, Helsinki, Manchester, Gatwick, Birmingham, ... and now Strasbourg. If I am not wrong the other two are used on the Rome and Barcelona routes (always).

But maybe Bart can confirm?

    Hi Luchtzak,

When they switch planes from Avro to A319,
do you keep with the flight or with the plane ?

That's good aircraft capacity management: take one A319 away from a destination where its larger capacity is not needed and have it make two rotations to Strasbourg. Meanwhile, the ARJ100 will make that other destination instead of the A319.

Further info:

In addition to the SN/SLR flights, OA 145 from ATH to BRU made an additional stop in SXB for the Greek members of the European Parliament.

That's exactly what happened with my first Sabena flight. Should have been an A319 but instead it was an Avro RJ.

I agree with all of you, it's good managment to switch planes to adapt the planes to the demand.

Don't forget the A319 is also flying to TLV (but that's during the night :P )

they switch the A319's if they need the capacity...
even for very short flights
take a look at the following flightplan from a few weeks ago:
(FPL-DAT2122-IS
-A319/M-SWY/C
-EGKK0745
-N0400F190 DVR W71 VABIK W70 KOK
-EBBR0040 EBOS

maybe some translation..
ESTAIL 2122 (DAT flight 2122)
London Gatwick EGKK - EBBR Brussel
departure 07:45 UTC
cruise 400 knots - flightlevel 190
via DOVER airway W71 VABIK airway W70 KOKSY
flighttime 40minutes - alternate airport EBOS (Ostend)

SAB-OM,

the A319 is normally scheduled on that short route. 2 flights to Gatwick per day, one on RJ and one on A319. Also the A319 flies to Geneva on Sundays.

greetings,

You don't want to know what I think of the European Parliament, except to say that it's the same view that most right-thinking Brits have!

And I agree about Liege by the way, it is a wonderful city!

Bart,

Do you know if the Gatwick route is working well :?: or well enough to operate an A319  We don't have to forget that BA stopped the route because it couldn't fill its B737.

Avro,

Is it because BA could not fill its plaine, or they had low yield? SNBA is now offering the flights in codeshare again with BA (+ total capacity is lower and more appropriate?) ...
