News from RwandAir

Post by rwandan-flyer »

A partnership with Luftansa, would be a great thing. Lufthansa Consulting was invovled into RwandAir, from 2009, when RwandAir got 2 CRJ-200s from LH CityLine. Lufthansa Technik has a contract with RwandAir to perform checks on A330s.

Last year, RwandAir got the economic authority licence from FAA, to start code share to US, either with UE airlines or US airlines (http://rwandatoday.africa/business/Rwan ... index.html). But for a parntership with United Airlines, they need to land, early morning at FRA. Last year they were trying to get morning slots at London Gatwick, to provide connecting to USA.

Almost all RwandAir flights to East Africa, to Southern Africa and to Kinshasa are both operated during the daylight and during the night (red eye flights)

East Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania
Southern Africa: South Africa (Not Cape Town, only Johannesburg), Zambia, Zimbabwe

Few years ago, Germany was the 2nd biggest market, for Rwanda, in Europe (visitors), ahead Belgium and behind UK (still the largest market, in 2019)

Rwandair makes an eye on Frankfurt"

KIGALI - Rwandair wants to make Frankfurt its third European destination. Sources within the company report this. The Rwandan airline is already flying from Kigali to Brussels and London.

The ambitious airline has grown considerably in recent years. As a result, the market share within Africa has increased considerably.

As mentioned, Brussels and London are flown in. Belgium and Great Britain accommodate relatively large groups of Rwandans. There is also a considerable community in Germany, which is why Frankfurt would be a logical next addition to the network.

It is not known when Frankfurt should be included in the timetable. Rwandair performs its distant flights with an Airbus A330 duo.
