At the press conference on the safety record of skeyes for 2018, CEO Johan Decuyper refused to reply to questions about the social movements in order not to interfere with the current negotiations between management, the unions and the mediators.

About the idea to regionalise and privatise air traffic control in Belgium, he said that the trend was just the opposite with the integration into a single European sky (SES). The latter is still far away, if we believe the airline associations which heavily complain about the slow pace of the integration.

No ATC restriction to expect during the day or the following night, according to NOTAMs

hi sean1982 and SN 26567 could you give some more info, is this from 23h30ZULU (01h30 local) until 02h30 Zulu (04h30 local), and what does this mean , no A/C can land at BRU during that period?
There are still late arrivals at BRU airport the following days.

Hours are in zoulou time, so add two hours to have local time.AIRMARSHAL wrote: ↑09 Apr 2019, 21:34 hi sean1982 and SN 26567 could you give some more info, is this from 23h30ZULU (01h30 local) until 02h30 Zulu (04h30 local), and what does this mean , no A/C can land at BRU during that period?
There are still late arrivals at BRU airport the following days. Imagine you will be stuck on an airplane for 3 to 4 hours.
Sectors North low, west low and west high = half of Belgium, west of a line from north to south accross the country going from Antwerp airport , through Brussels airport, to Charleroi airport.
Brussels airport remains open but traffic needs to route or re-route via the east of Belgium (east of the line described hereabove). Brussels approach isn't affected.
By the way, every night, those 3 sectors are collapsed on ONE sector and managed by ONE controller. That means that unless only one "west qualified" controller is present for the whole night (very unlikely as the sectors would have to close for much longer than 3 hours), it is possible to remain open: one can work two hours and the other one rest two hours and so on. That would mean working 4,5 hours over the whole night (with regulations if necessary but it's quiet at night so it would have no impact)

Thank you mvg for your quick and clear reply.
Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
I'm sorry to contradict you but ONE sectors in CANAC has to be manned by TWO controllers. As far as I know, there is no approval from BCAA for Single Person Sector ! So I'm afraid your calculations are not correct !mvg wrote: ↑09 Apr 2019, 21:46 By the way, every night, those 3 sectors are collapsed on ONE sector and managed by ONE controller. And I wouldn't describe the arrivals and departures peak at LGG as a calm moment !
Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
Also sorry to contradict you... But that rule is valid EXCEPT at night when “east” and “west” are sitting next to each other with ONE Atco working on each side...
(Approved by BCAA)
That’s what happens each night....
Nights are quiet on the WEST side...

So this is the new norm.
How to become a millionair : invest a billion in belgium.

My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.
Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
I see that the whole Belgian press is reporting about the closure of Belgian airspace at night, almost a daily feature in newspapers. It might be simpler to announce when airspace remains open the whole night!

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
Some explanation from ACV/CSC representative :
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... 0584575853
"To be clear: since the start of the mediation at Skeyes there have been no actions or strikes. It is true that the occupation is very tight and when sick people fall or if they cannot find a replacement for those who have been sick for more than 1 day, safety measures must be taken for air traffic reasons. If nobody or only 1 person is available for a certain sector, the airspace has to be closed. This therefore does NOT only concern actions or strikes, but incorrect reporting from the media or persons who want to put the Skeyes personnel in a bad light. What is, however, is that due to the staff shortage at CANAC and the conflict situation, few are willing to fill in the gaps voluntarily. Normally 104 FTEs are needed on CANAC and with the sick there we are now at around 73 FTE. It is therefore unrealistic to let everything run. You should not be a math wonder."
