Re: BREAKING: Shootout at Brussels Airport
There are new facts for this old topic (November 2011):
According to a report from Flemish state television VRT, it was not a plain robbery but more a drugs related theft. With just one victim though: an innovent American citizen who tried to stop the thieves, and then was shot in his foot.
One of the two Brazilian ladies involved was indeed "robbed" of 200.00 Euro's. She said it was an investment from a Dutch business man into her brother's business at Brazil, but police revealed that the money was actually for her Brazilian drugs supplier. Because she didn't feel quite comfortable with the prospect of walking around with 200.000 Euro's, the lady invited a friend (female) to join her to Brussels Airport where the money transaction would take place. However, this second lady was very interested in the 200.000 herself, so she contacted a friend (male) and asked him to rob them (= the two ladies) at the airport.
It was during this setup robbery that an innocent American tourist intervened - and then was shot in his foot.
Police investigation revealed that the robber and the second lady were seen talking to each other 10 minutes before the robbery on the airport's CCTV, and cell phone communication confirmed that they knew each other.
The police is now looking for the two Brazilian ladies (one for drug crimes, one for robbery), for the shooter and for the man who delivered the 200.000 to them at the airport (the actual drug dealer).

Re: BREAKING: Shootout at Brussels Airport
Forgive me but the last thing you'd want is police running in and leading to a hostage or a real shootout situation. This isn't Hollywood and John Mclane isn't around to save the day.
What's 200k euro's of stolen drug money, next to a person's life?
Drive 5 kilometers towards downtown Brussels and you land in one of the worst ghetto's of the world.
If you need an adrenaline shot, don't press the red Telenet button, just go to Schaarbeek and start a fight.
