As expected, there will be much more focus on long haul, less on medium haul, so there will be a signficiant cutback in the medium haul fleet (exit 11 RJ 85s and 737s), while 4 turboprops will be wetleased for very thin business routes (using SN cabin crew), together with a few more A32Fs.
Also, a total of 4 more longhaul planes will join the fleet by 2014 to strengthen and expand the network both in AFI and transatlantic.
Losses should be steadily reduced in 2012 and 2013, profitability of 50M by 2014 is the target.

That's what I found interesting as well, anyone knows if that number includes the 2 A330-200 coming from Swiss? One is already operating for SN, but only replaces other A330's as they're fitted with the new interior. So in a way, it is not added to the fleet yet (as in: additional capacity).tolipanebas wrote: Also, a total of 4 more longhaul planes will join the fleet by 2014 to strengthen and expand the network both in AFI and transatlantic.
Btw, what is the status of HB-IQC? Is it still in Zurich?

According to the unions, after the meeting, Brussels Airlines losses this year are :
- 60 jobs mainly pilots
- 80 million euros
Profitability in 2014 ("demain on rase gratis" ?)

Re: Brussels Airlines in the newspapers this week
It seems that VRT is going to maintain both topics. At this very moment, they still announce two topics for Terzake: the demission of Di Rupo and Brussels Airlines:

in summer 2012, SN will have a fleet of 7 A330s (so the current 5 plus the 2 LX A332s)
in summer 2013, the idea is to have 9 A330s in the fleet...
Re: Brussels Airlines in the newspapers this week
So the 4 additional long haul planes was including the A332's from LX?tolipanebas wrote: To make it more clear:

Or is it:
2012: 7 long haul planes
2013: 9 long haul planes
2014: 11 long haul planes?

Re: Brussels Airlines in the newspapers this week
Brussels wants to get leaner and work more like the low-cost airlines. Good news? More roster stability to come?
There are indeed good things to learn from them, fi the Fatigue Risk Management Scheme & roster stability.
Looks like an improvment for the pilots concerning duties;
fi Easyjet; Fixed roster of 5 early duties, 3 days off, 5 late duties , 4 off.
Longer duties? Why not, but with the current rostering system that will hardly be possible, people are going from early to late shifts, long haul to short, nightflight to early flights; 7-3 to 5-2 to 6-3 to 4-2 to 7-3 etc Just seems there is not too much logic behind planning for now. What system is LH using?
Now the idea that holidays should be taken during winter period - isn't that the strangest idea ever? Will sick leave days explode? Probably yes.
60 pilots too much with 5 to 7 BMI and Austrian wetleases flying out of Brussels? Is this even legal with people working on a fixed base out of Brussels but paying no taxes or social security at all?
Why not base all pilots or operations abroad? How many millions of taxes could be saved?
But where is this spirit coming from that all employees seem to be working soo much against managment? I think this assumption is totally wrong and sadly has its roots top down and not vice versa. We're all just bystanders performing our duties, no more no less.
I guess.

Re: Brussels Airlines in the newspapers this week
SN and the unions have reached an agreement about the flights to Egypt, averting the risk of a strike on Friday.
The agreement is valid until the end of January, after which a new agreement should take over.
The issue was the possibility to exceed the 12 hours legal limit on daily work for the crew.
The content of he agreement is still unknown.

welcome to the world? this is so in almost every aviation company and even in every company in the world, you don't take leave at high season. for this reason people who really have to due to familial reasons can without much harm for the company.BrusselsAirlines wrote: Now the idea that holidays should be taken during winter period - isn't that the strangest idea ever?
