Jetairfly boeing 767 delayed today

Post by Shanti »

Jetairfly flight to Dom.rep. today must leave at 06.00, delayed for
the first time till 10.00, then again till 12.00, further delayed till
16.00, is it again the famous OO-TUC and what could be the problem?
Poor people and crew! But of course safety first!

There is nothing wrong with the airline, but as we all know OO-TUC is the only troubled bird in the fleet.

Yeah, the only troubled bird in their fleet, but isn't it their only long-haul plane :? It must be all-knew by now if you think how many parts probably have been changed over the past years 8-)

I hope there won't ever be a serious accident with OO-TUc - but if there is one, Jetairfly will have to bear some caustic and heavy comments, critics and accusations in the press.
One can well imagine the titles : "That aircraft has always been in trouble and was waiting for a disaster to happen" ...

I geuss the bigest problem of jetair is that they only have one long range plane, if other bigger companies have these kind of problems they simply take a other airplane from there fleet as replacement. and it aint big news

At least you can give them some credit for flying their own long-haul flights out of Belgium. But with only one airplane (no recent one), you know there are going to be problems.

(even Brussels Airl. has sometimes problems with their 4 A330's)

I thought they still had 2 767's available? The OO-TUC and the airplane from Neos...

Can someone maybe confirm this?

One airline that I know that has relatively no problem with operating only ONE long-haul airplane is Edelweiss in Switzerland.

No choice , everybody has a choice !!
Book TC with XL, book in Holland fly Martinair, ...

Always some fun with OO-TUC, such as mentioned some topic's ago !
OO-TUC is just one bad detail in Jetairfly, problems will be solved soon when a second plane arrive and exit of OO-TUC after this summer (finally).

I fly Jetairfly beacuse it's Belgian, good (enough on the OO-TUC) and cheap !
When you have money enough fly sheduled ! ( AIR FRANCE/CORSAIR/IBERIA...)
Think Iberia is better? TRY IT and convince yourself haha!

Brussels Airport site mentions the plane has left at 16.52...
This is a nightmare for the passengers to be honest.

If plane was due to leave at 6am then the passengers were at the airport at 4am already... so they had to wait for almost 13 hours... and then still have the 8h30 flight to Puerto Plata...

I hope there werent too many passengers with little children :(

Novastar,

I myself had once a delay of 12h with JAF's 767 OO-TUC to Varadero,Cuba with a 3 year child.

I agree it's no fun but we were called at home to say we're on a delay, so we weren't
so long on the airport. What happened today with the passengers?
We get a very nice sum of money back ( for only 12h ) and we were arriving 6 am instead of 17h PM in Varadero! ( I think I prefer this time- shedule instead of the normal one, people with kids will
agree this )
I'll say it wasn't so bad for the kid but...I agree it isn't nice !
Especially when you must wait in the airport, at least you get a meal/drink.. (but nowadays).
( Once with CX we'll get a free tour in HKG,Iberia a free tour of Soweto in JNB, only nothing
with KLM except a meal )
I don't travel that much ( 2x a year) but I'll had my portion of delays and ..
It happen often ( with me) with many carriers and most of the time the result wasn't that bad !
Of course I'm no business man wo needs to be on time, but when this happened on the other
part of the world, the plane was filled with 80-90 percent lucky people with 12h of an
extra holiday !
Don't say this don't happen ! See the news !
People will argue this only to try some cash out of it (I would do the same ) , but they think by themself mmm...

Ya, both sides of a story, but I agree, in BRU with a holiday-head booked only 8 days.. It's hell !

Greetings and for the possessed pax , still enjoy the caribbean !
For OO-TUC ... Thx for adding a new repeating topic... can't wait for the next one... haha

Greetings CX-B

Somebody knew what the problem was (this time?) ? :ugeek:

Maybe the Neos plane was returned as well due to the fact that they discontinued the Florida/USA operations?
There is no more trace of these flights!? :?:

With al due respect, but on an aviation forum, I would have expected more mature comments on OO-TUC and a little more comprehension for the situation. The speculation about future accidents with OO-TUC is merely childish: if the bird is allowed to fly, it means it is in line with all national and company safety regulations. A company like Jetairfly does not gamble with the safety of hundreds of passengers or a multi-billion dollar plane!

Furthermore, a lot of us (including me) do not know the specifics on OO-TUC and Jetairfly's situation. I am pretty sure that if it would be that simple to just replace OO-TUC, they would already have done it. Apparently, something is prohibiting a replacement. Some members suggest the leasing contract. That seems very plausible to me.

To conclude, I am quite confident that Jetairfly will not fly the plane should it be in an unsafe condition to fly. Do not forget that it spends a lot of it's time over open ocean! I do not know a lot about commercial aviation (am PPL student), but I cannot imagine that a company like Jetairfly would lack the common sense to delay a flight if necessary for safety reasons. I think the multiple delays prove me right there!

Let's just look forward to the 787 they seem to have on order!

I still do not understand why people fly this airline...

1. of course they have choice.. plenty of it.

2. Good airline??? long haul reliability close to that of Biman Bangladesh.. plays out in full each time
on National TV, prime time news..

they should simply drop their long haul flights, clearly not up to the challenge..
