Last Tuesday KLM Boeing 747 PH-BFN has been heavily damaged during an incident with a pushback truck. The plane was being moved, when suddenly the pushback truck hit the fuselage. Cause unknown.
The plane will be out of service for several weeks, while it will be examined and repaired when necessary.

wow, the ramp guy must have been very scared! I hope we will have more news about this, cause i am quite interested to know why it happened!
Was this a scheduled flight, or were they just towing it to another gate?? How embarrassing would it be for the pilots to get on the intercom and tell 300+ pax. "ummm, sorry, our plane is now broken and we have to switch..."
"What's this button do?? I don't know, push it and find out................."
If the noselifter started in front of the a/c and ended this way, I cannot imagine that there is no damage to the nose-gear as well. It looks to me as the nosegear is turned at least 90°.
Would like to hear what caused it.

I can imagine that if they are towing the plane, and the plane suddenly decides it does not want to move anymore, that the towtruck's front wheels will get off the ground, at which point the rear driving wheels might cause the truck to do a 180 around the nosewheel. Perhaps the person in the 747 suddenly pushed the brakes?

Any idea of the weight of a vehicle as this ??
I agree there can be damage when someone hits the brakes, but still.
The situtaion is very weird. I looked at the picture again and noticed the nose gear is in a 90° angle but the noselifter is in a 180° angle opposed to the 747

keep in mind that this is a super tug, this kind of vehicle lift the aircraft, so it does not need to be as heavy as a normal tug, because the plane front wheel makes the weight that the tug needs to do the traction of the aircraft.
Hope this helps
