This whole airport is a sad joke.

Also, given the time they spent talking about it before construction finally began, it's amazing they still managed to make such a mess out of it.

"OMG what a screw-up, but at least it's not as bad as Berlin!"

I have just received a mail from RYR : they stay at Chopin until 30th march.

IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I'M NOT GOING.

Received the same message today.
For those of you who are flying FR or W6 from WAW, please allow some extra time before your flight : if things have not changed, self printed boarding passes are not allowed, one has to queue to get a "real" boarding pass before going airside. (I experienced this in november when my flight to CRL was diverted to WAW, and a friend also had the same experience a few weeks ago).

When your flight is diverted then I can believe but it is not the case anymore. Now they are asking you to use only a pre-printed boarding card to avoid a queue. Besides when you take now a flight to Modlin, automatically Chopin is printed on your boarding card.

Please be informed that all Wizz Air Warsaw flights will operate to/from Warsaw Chopin airport (WAW) until 26 October.

Looks like Modlin will not be reopened for commercial traffic soon...

Poland's Civil Aviation Office (ULC) has given permission for Warsaw Modlin Airport to resume flights on 2 July, after six months out of business due to runway repairs. - See more at:

But Ryanair will resume flights to/from Modlin only on 2 September. Why does O'Leary accept to pay higher fees at Chopin Airport for two more months?

Also it is not yet known when Wizz Air will move back to Modlin.

It could have something to do with the ILS not being ready for use (certified) for another two months. Then again, that should not really be relevant at this time of the year.

Correct, but that is what they (Whizz Air) want to look at anyway, how it works. But the main thing is that they want to settle an agreement about compensation of the losses incurred owing to the closure.

After all is solved and inspected, they will start thinking about returning.

Bad news for Modlin: Warsaw Chopin Airport confirms that Wizz Air's temporary operations at Warsaw Chopin Airport "will become permanent from tomorrow 18JUL13".

What about Ryanair?

It says on the RYR website that the flights to Chopin will cease at midnight on 2 september, and then go to Modlin.

Good luck to Ryanair at Chopin then: a survey of 4,000 Wizz Air passengers found that 70% dislike Modlin’s "poor accessibility" and feel these outweigh savings on airfares.

Ryanair website : flights to Warsaw Chopin (instead of Modlin) now until 24.00 26th October 2013.
Ryanair appears to be concerned about how to transport passengers to and from Modlin, up to one-hours drive from the capital. (pg) -

Today, first Ryanair landing on Modlin Airport since December last year.

Ryanair will move its Warsaw operations back to Modlin Airport from 30SEP13 after having served Warsaw's main Chopin Airport during this year's (very long) renovation work.
