Most members of the group travelled this leg by a night train and arrived exhausted. Only three people of the group had selected the plane, which was really the best idea. Uyuni is a small city, but close to one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, the 'Salar" of Uyuni (Google it!)
Uyuni has a small "international" airport
... with signs in Quechua (the language of the Incas), English and Spanish
Early check-in got me a window seat in the front, with a very simple boarding pass again
For a surprise, I had to pay an airport tax (11 Bolivianos, approx 1.5 euros) and I got the baggage tickets for all three of us.
No problem to have a bottle of water at the baggage scan. Europe, take note!
The incoming flight arrived at the time we should normally take off!
But with a very short turnaround (17 minutes), we left only a few minutes late.
Flight: Amaszonas Z8 307
Date : 30 Oct 2015
Aircraft: CRJ-200 reg. CP-2762
From-To: Uyuni - La Paz (UYU-LPB)
Seat: 3F
Scheduled/Effective Time of Departure:15:25/15:42 (GMT-4)
Scheduled/Effective Time of Arrival: 16:10/16:28 (GMT-4)
Scheduled/Effective Duration of the flight: 0 hr 45 min/0 hr 46 min
Take-off from Rwy 31. Very long: I thought it would never go up (but at 3800 m altitude, the thin air requires a much higher speed to take off!).
Once in the air, in the South American tradition, a drink was served.
Outside, beautiful coloured views of the Bolivian plateau and mountains
...before arriving above La Paz
...with snow-covered mountains of the Cordillera Real in the background
Landing on rwy 10R, disembarking in a remote domestic position and on foot to the terminal of La Paz.

Hi André, another nice illustration of your travels in Bolivia and beyond. Seemed like another decent flight here!
Never heard of Amaszonas and never liked the CRJ-200 either (too small!) but the views outside were really breathtaking, hurrah for that window seat!

Thanks! What I like in the CRJ-200 is the 2-2 seating. And for a short trip it is quite acceptable.TheFlyingSultan wrote:Never heard of Amaszonas and never liked the CRJ-200 either (too small!) but the views outside were really breathtaking, hurrah for that window seat!
Amaszonas was completely unknown to me before I was booked on them. A Bolivian company with subsidiaries elsewhere (Paraguay, ...) and a fleet composed exclusively of CRJ-200s (some of them brand new). The network, due to the nature of the aircraft, is very local: domestic in Bolivia, and a few flights to neighbouring countries: Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, ...
