Post by Roser »

Does anyone knows what will be the solution for the replacement of Hercules CH 02 lost in a hangar fire in Zaventem?
Thanks.

Thre was told the time of the fire on the CH02 that a second-hand one would be bought with the moey got from the insurance.
Or does our country needs to save more money once again ?

What I remember being told at the time of the fire is that this aircraft was insured for less than what a second-hand one would normally cost...

The money should not come from the insurance of the Army, but from the insurance of Sabena Technics: they were the ones at fault. And their insurance should pay for the actual value of the plane, no less!

Therefore, I cannot understand why the plane should not be replaced. Maybe the money will be used for the future A400M?

And now... will it be a second-hand canadian or a second-hand US plane. See www.baha.be. Why not a brandnew (on the long-term cheaper) J-version?

And Australian C-130???

But it's going to be replaced by another airplane. I heared rumours of an A330. Although I find it difficult to believe.

Because it will be replaced by the A400M in the near future?

They found a US replacement plane. The condition was that it couldn't cost more than the insurance-money they've got for the CH-02.
Nothing known about type, but apparently it needs a "serious" update to get at the same level as the rest of the fleet...

In May 2003, Airbus Military and OCCAR (Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en Matière d'Armement), representing Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Turkey, and United Kingdom was signed the contract for a total of 180 aircraft.
Belgian Air Force will receive 7 aircrafts of a total of 180.

The replacement for CH-02 could be N130EV ex-Evergreen Aviation, a WC130E.

I hope they remove all mice if it's a museum piece...

In accordance with BAHA the ferry flight is delayed.
BAHA wrote:The transatlantic ferry flight of Lockheed Hercules N130EV to the Brussels Airport based company Sabena Technics has been delayed by technical problems (a damaged propeller due to a loose engine cowling) and the extreme bad weather at Gander.
Looks like all mice are removed and ready to go,....
