Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

What are the options if the Belgian government doesn't want to give 'just a loan' and Lufthansa refuses the Belgian state to take a state in SN or LH proper? Let it go bankrupt and start over? No need to start over. If it goes bankrupt because LH and the state rufuse aid SN will go into bankruptcy ...

Does anyone have full access to the article in the Belgian newspaper LaLibre titled LH met le couteau sous la gorge de l'Etat belge et des salariés de SN (LH puts the knife to the throat of the Belgian State and SN employees) ? It's an interview of Didier Lebbe, from the Christian union, by journal...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Air France - KLM group receives stated aid for 12 billion, Brussels Airlines only asks 290 million. There is a rumour that about 20 years ago, the French government allegedly bought two business class seats on every Air France flight. To avoid a fine by the European Commission. When Sabena went ban...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Should the Belgium government spend money on a company that focuses on Africans traveling to Africa for family purposes? Try to think, before posting populist posts, without any kind of reflection or argument behind it. There is an argument behind it. State aid to SN could be justified by the impor...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

The restructuring programs already initiated at Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines will be further intensified due to the coronavirus crisis. Among other things, both companies are working on reducing their fleets. I wonder what the program will be called now. ‘Hard-reset’ instead of reboot? :?

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation

Meanwhile, reports are emerging that national governments are going to be asked to bail out their flag carriers, including our government. The Lufthansa Group is in talks with the German, Belgian, Swiss and Austrian governments for coordinated government aid to the airlines in its group. https://ww...

How many people are getting fired? :? The law Renault is applicable as soon as 30 people are made redundant (not fired) in any 60 day period. As for the total, that is still inside knowledge for the moment, but if you want to reduce costs by 10% or more it could be a significant number. Let's see w...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

What they're basically saying is that not hiring new staff equals collective layoffs, it's preposterous! They made themselves irrelevant with such an extremist stance Not correct, what they are actually saying is: deciding to lay off 50 people, every month during 20 consecutive months should be con...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Slots at BRU could be refused for Summer 2020, since 25R will be closed during July & August, resulting in a significant loss of capacity for the airport. As a preventative measure, some slots might be refused. I couldn’t tell you whether that’s actually the case here or not. Even then, BRU had...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Is SN going to get the A321LR ? Not so long ago, I asked the question to Christina Foerster. She answered, "I would like to buy it, but I don't have the money." Case closed! Spohr has said 'EBIT must come before new planes' earlier so no surprise here. But the A321XLR would be a perfect p...

Re: Brussels Airport monthly traffic figures

I still believe the problem of BRU lies with the shareholders. Dividend that BRU is keeping for them is extremely high. ( about 5 times what AMS is paying ). My information says BRU payed 93 million, CDG 173 million and AMS 117 million over 2018. AMS and CDG are multiple times larger thus BRU’s div...

Re: Brussels Airport monthly traffic figures

Regardless of how you think BRU is doing you can't blame a single person or entity. Everyone needs to work together to have a big hub in a small country and the needed vision simply isn't there. Compare not only the airport ownership with AMS but what recently happened after AFKL tried to fire the K...

Of course it's just a little detail that BRU is one of the largest international transfer hubs in the full Star Alliance network based on hard facts rather than a personal grudge against LH  One of the largest after FRA, IST, MUC, ZRH, VIE, CPH, LIS, ADD, PTY, BKK and SIN you mean? :? OK, a positive article for once. Hopefully they still make it to the TOP 20 ??
Top 20 of Europe you mean? Unlikely with a growth of 2.6% when they were 24th busiest in 2018. MXP will likely surpass them while BRU will surpass ARN so same position in 2019.
