Re: K3 - now on thomas cook plane!
OK, so we know a little bit more about the amount of money invested, about the amount of money that wasn"t invested... but it seems to me that we're still missing info on the amount of money actually generated just by that marketing campaign. No, answers about the importance of branding and cor...

Re: Why are Ultralights not allowed in Antwerp CTR
And you'll excuse me for NOT believing there's a good reason behind every rule and law - particularly not in Belgian aviation. Reminds me of the first 2 minutes of the airlaw course given by the big boss of the BCAA (almost 20 years ago). He said: "Consider that everything is forbidden unless ...

Re: mega mindy safetyvideo on thomas cook
Yeah, well... TC cabin crews, please keep us updated on the effectiveness of that new video. I must admit I have my doubts. You watch it once, perhaps you watch it again a week or two later, but it quickly gets boring. I wonder how many pax will just stare at it while thinking about something else. ...

Re: AF 447 crash : aircraft parts found
Without going too far into the intricacies of advanced aerodynamics, yes you can put an aircraft in a very high nose-up attitude with full power and still be going down at thousands of feet per minute. Some would call this a superstall. Airbus didn't say that it wasn't their fault, they just said th...

Perhaps they could borrow the big billboard close to Bangor airport (where lots of USAF and Federal Guard noisy planes come and go) that says: "JET NOISE IS THE SOUND OF FREEDOM".

Re: Taxi's blocking Brussels Airport after police shot drive
Ok, it's much clearer now, thanks. What looks like a loose-loose situation from here probably isn't, in particular for the suitably-approved taxi companies and the guys who issue the golden ticket. Otherwise, why bother ? People respond to incentives. Other airports have limited access to their faci...

Re: Taxi's blocking Brussels Airport after police shot drive
So the taxi driver was illegally carrying a passenger from BRU airport to downtown or wherever, right ? Was it the cop on the hood or another person in the backseat ? I can't imagine a taxi driver stupid/panicked enough to drive through a police control with a customer onboard. Same applies to the c...

Re: How not to land at Courchevel............
I'm not sure the majority of private aircraft owners would agree to put a radio-altimeter in their Cessna/Piper/etc., which would be the only way for VFR aircraft to have a fool-proof device to warn of approaching terrain/ground. It would be interesting to know what would be the costs and readiness ...

Re: Eurocontrol: Libyan airspace closed.
It's not exactly closed but the end result is not that much different... From Eurocontrol: Following UN Security Council resolution 1973 to apply a "No - Fly" zone over Libya, and the ban on flights in Libyan airspace, all flight plans for traffic wishing to operate into this airspace will...

Even more impressive when you consider the rate of climb AND the airspeed. They break the sound barrier in less than 50 seconds, reaching Mach 4.0 in 2 minutes.

Re: No more deicing fluid at Brussels Airport
Last week MUC was already running low on de-icing fluid. The 'best' part being that MUC collects and recycles the fluid that falls off the aircraft in the de-icing areas, so in theory they should be less exposed to such problem... But no!

Re: Accident Airbus A340 of Turkish Airlines @ Brussels Airp
3-engine ferry flights have been around for decades. If the airline is not too dumb, follows the procedures and makes sure the crew is properly trained it's not a big deal. Unfortunately sometimes you find candidates for a Darwin Award. During Three-engine Takeoff in DC-8, Captain Makes Premature Li...

Reminds me of the AF 747-400 that finished its landing roll in the lagoon at Papeete.
The fact that the Captain "resigns" so quickly (resignation apparently accepted... if not firmly "suggested" in the first place?) says a lot about the safety culture at THY!

Can't remember precisely but I don't think MO'L was bragging as usual when one of their engines touched the runway.

Re: Accident Airbus A340 of Turkish Airlines @ Brussels Airp
I think the definition was adopted at an era when engines used to blow up a lot more frequently, hence the little tweak in the definition about engines failures. You can blow up an engine but if the damage is contained within the cowling it's not an accident. If it's not an accident there's no requi...

Re: incident with A340 THY this morning
I suppose we must be happy that the pilots were able to save the situation On the other hand it's worth wondering to what extent they didn't create that situation all by themselves. Any chance of taking pics to see the damage? Not even sure this is going to be officially labelled as an accident. Ac...

Hmmm, the guy's voice is barely audible and he speaks very fast. I wonder how much of the demo has been remembered by the pax. At least it's original.
