Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news

It's clear for many years now, LGG is a cargo airport with marginal pax activity, only charters, 25 destinations this year, about 400.000 pax/year. Still, it's the 3rd biggest airport in Belgium for pax and it's showing great will of expanding due to a lot of interest from different companies. The W...

Re: Aviapartner strike @ Brussels Airport (and Flightcare too)

I wish they had said "ok, it's true, you diserve a good salary raise, but first we will take the first 24 months of this raise to pay back the mess you created with your strike". Heard again on the radio today that we are one of the only country where union does not have a juridical person...

Re: Aviapartner strike @ Brussels Airport (and Flightcare too)

No other airport in Belgium is capable of beeing a full backup of BRU, that's no secret. But there are still good alternative, not perfect, but far better than cancelation for pax. Even with some waiting time, they should realise that others are working hard so they can leave anyway. 50 flights in L...

Re: Aviapartner strike @ Brussels Airport (and Flightcare too)

IMHO, the way to get people interested in a physically hard job with often unsocial working hours and bad working conditions is not to pay them 1,200 euros a month, but to offer them an attractive pay. And if this means more expensive air tickets, so be it. It's not that the air fares will suddenly...

Re: Aviapartner strike @ Brussels Airport (and Flightcare too)

Even LGG can't handle this situation. They have not the accomodation to handle a lot of flights. The latest I could read was about 4 hours delay at LGG airport. From what I know, they managed very well to handdle more than 50 flights in one day. The terminal and the infrastructure should not be abl...

Re: Aviapartner strike @ Brussels Airport (and Flightcare too)

maybe we should change the name of the topic.
A strike is an planed action taken after failed negociations. Totally not the case today, it was not planned and there were no negociations before the action. Sadly usual in belgium, but should not be called strike.

It is a very good initiative. Charleroi is growing in the air, but it's necessary to grow in the ground too, it's all very good. Even if it's cheaper and probably faster by train, people just prefer to keep things simple by a point-to-point trip. It will be different the day they make a train statio...
