Found your answer here. There was likely some kind of inop of the trailing edge variable camber (cruise flaps), which imposes weight/COG restritctions on takeoff.

I am no specialist or journalist. Indeed those two are mutually exclusive. Also note that the article says 'February last year' not 'this year', so indeed February 2012, not 2013. What's more interesting is why the beam was replaced in 2004, after only 9 years, if it's supposed to have a life of 10...

You just need to register with ESTA before your trip, and pay up the 14 dollars. Then fill out the customs declaration before entering the USA. Oh and leave some fingerprints with them. And the 14 dollar fee apparently is used for ... wait for it ... promoting tourism to the USA! Because nothing say...

Yes you can buy lots of cheap Ryanair tickets to boost flying frequency.

Also if all else fails, you could try to hitch a ride back home on a cargo ship. It takes some time though.
