Re: Air Belgium in 2021
Half-on-topic They lack over a hundred officers and have virtually no condidates to fill the gap. Any ideas why? I'd assume it's not too bad of a job or a workplace? It's federal police. Cadets who leave the academy are mostly formed for the local police, where they often get better offices, better...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
I don't understand why there should be any Belgian flag or colors on an SN plane? Other legacy carriers don't have it... KL has no Dutch flag, nor the 'national' coloŕ (orange), neither has LH, OS,... Air Belgium does, but is has the name 'Belgium' in it, as does AF, IB, AZ,... The 'Belgian identity...

Re: BRU Summer 2023: news, new routes, airlines
As for whether A++ would "let" them enter the markets, the days of scheduling twice-hourly 777s at rock-bottom fares between city pairs to drive a new entrant's twice-daily E145s out are for the most part long gone, thankfully. But is still is competition, specifically on a highly competi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Totally incredible. And utterly shameful. While many former employees are having to find their way in a new walk of life, and Belgian taxpayers are waiting for the refund of their (already unacceptable) 250M+ funding, this mediocre company finds no better way to spend our (not its) money than to de...

Re: BRU Summer 2023: news, new routes, airlines
American Airlines will receive in 2023 the new A321XLR. They will fly from several American cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Charlotte and Chicago to thinner secondary European airports. Important in here is that they look again at Brussels Airport to launch such flight. Fingers crossed Would A...

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
Yes indeed French and English is the most used languages in CRL are you surprised, was you maybe expecting that everyone speak Polish maybe? By the way have a try to speak French in our dear National Airport you would be surprised how people react to you. And can we speak about Antwerp Aerodrome? D...

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
If you go 'behind the scenes' a vast majority of staff is french speaking. Really? To settle the issue, some official figures: The airport employs workers from all provinces of the country, the centre of gravity being in the provinces of Flemish Brabant (40%) and Antwerp (17%), followed by the Brus...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
To be honest, I don't see Brussels Airlines changing now their identity, by wasting a huge amount of money repainting the fleet while 2 years ago, they didn't want to make a complete painting on some of the a330's to spare some Euro's. You work for SN, don't you? Any rumours from the workfloor? ;)

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
BRU is far from that and in a bigger scope a regional airport on itself, compared to other major airports. Now many airlines have BRU bound or originating pax transferred to major hub airports. They'd rather serve the Brussels and Belgian market directly from BRU i.s.o. CRL. Which has nothing to do...

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
usually less crowded regional airports are getting ready to cope with more long-haul traffic, thereby alleviating the bigger airports. Isn't that more so to regional airports which serve a city with a major airport that is near full capacity? BRU is far from that and in a bigger scope a regional ai...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
I think that SN is ripe for a sale and that this is what LH will try to do. The crisis is far from over and airlines are getting in deeper and deeper troubles. Suffices to see the SN fares for the coming weeks to see that they' re desperate to sell seats at any price. Summer is over and the appetit...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Imho AMS isn't necessarily a higher yield market than Brussels. It's higher profile comes mainly from KL's vast network and the cooperation coming from it. KL/DL have quite a unique thing going on at AMS. BRU's handicap is SN's weakness since it's formation, in a time when aviation in Europe changed...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
Well, is Brussels a real network airline? The local market context is dominated by LCC airlines flying from CRL with pressure on yields and communicated basic prices for the booking masks. The long haul itself serves price sensitive markets in emerging economies. The DNA of the company is - speakin...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021
But if the situation is that bad and management has been repeatedly warned about it, the last resort is to go on strike, maybe for some selected flights as a starter/last warning. A strike in such an environment would be plain stupid. I hope they realize that. I couldn't agree more. I was just reac...
