Re: Impact of aviation on the Coronavirus crisis
Masks are compulsory to protect one another when social distancing cannot be implemented. Hence, the role of the flight attendants (or airport personnel) is to make sure everyone wears a mask. If it is not the case, you should complain. But not ask for an end of air travel. This is what some govern...

Re: Impact of aviation on the Coronavirus crisis
Keeping airlines flying in a pandemic: horror in the making. I just got off a Ryanair flight from CRL and I'm horrified by what I saw. I urge politicians to stop this farce and ground all flights with immediate effect. Reaching the airport. I decided to take the train to Charleroi Station and then t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
...if you're not getting your refund, just open a claim with your credit card company. It will not be denied and most credit cards offer fraud protection as well. Because witholding funds or converting into vouchers without permission is fraud, as Passenger pointed out himself in his post in the Co...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
A voucher does not equate to a refund and is hence rejected by credit card companies. Charging back to the same credit card is the only accepted refund method upon opening a claim with your credit card company. If you open a claim, it means that you did not agree to receiving a voucher and EU law i...

Re: easyJet in 2020
I am on the line with the Easyjet call center. It took 2 hours 45 minutes for someone to take me off the music. While on hold, I went out for 30 minutes, came home, made dinner and started eating, when suddenly someone answered. I called with with a request to take me off the flight after rebooking ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
AF was very efficient with me too. I was shocked by how fast I got an agent on the line to resolve my case and I already rebooked a future long haul with them, just based on how great a service they provided. I had tickets with SN too, a whole bunch of them, all cancelled. I could have accepted vou...

Chaos at Brussels Airlines as the call center is unreachable. 55.000 calls per day instead of the usual 3000. https://www.hln.be/nieuws/binnenland/chaos-bij-brussels-airlines-geschrapte-vluchten-en-klantendienst-die-tienduizenden-telefoontjes-krijgt~a2b80a0e/ As I said, book flights only if you real...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Does anyone have a "trick" for SN to answer the phone (reservations) or Facebook ... to reorganize canceled reservations. No answer. No one ! Nothing... Airlines are doing this purposedly. I hope that SN is not leaving call center people on unemployment while there is plenty of work for t...

Impact of aviation on the Coronavirus crisis
The same way there is a "Impact of the Coronavirus crisis on aviation", I think that there are justified grounds to have the reverse thread, separate. If we can discuss the negative impact of aviation on global warming, we can also discuss the negative impact on the ongoing health crisis. ...

Covid-19: Packed aircraft under fire
During today's US senate hearing, Senator Sanders attacked AA and other airlines' policy to not keep the middle seat empty and the lack of a proper policy and questioned the experts on this. The chief of CDC testified that it is under critical review and to not keep the middle seats empty is not the...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
If Belgium saves a German SN, can we also expect Belgium to save the 35.000 other companies employing 10 or more people in Belgium, for a total of 2.4 million jobs? What about holdings like AB InBev? Or did you think that Germany was going to save them for us? Saving all these companies will result ...

Western financial system to collapse?
I'm looking at some indicators and I'm frankly starting to worry that financial systems of entire countries in the US and Europe may fail in a few quarters. US Q2 GDP is projected to fall 39.5% YoY as of last Friday :https://www.frbatlanta.org/-/media/documents/cqer/researchcq/gdpnow/RealGDPTracking...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
About the lease contracts, D Vranckx said yesterday they had been renegotiated at a lower cost, one of the reasons SN didn't have yet to ask LH for financial support. He also mentioned that all the flights operated since the restart were profitable, or at least breaking even. Let's assume that it's...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
If there is a cost to a restructuring, it's in the form of lost jobs and that cost is borne by the workforce. Restructurings are supposed to cut costs, not generate costs, so it's nonsensical. Restructuring costs money short term, they are (supposed to if done wisely) save a lot of money long term....

Does anyone know when the next meeting is between LH and the Belgian govt? It's about time we F I N A L L Y have an outcome. Why shouldn't governments be in the business of starting airlines? So who started ..... KLM.........? Not the Dutch government. KLM was set up by 8 business persons. So, recap of the day: - deal at SN between management and syndicates - Thiele will vote for rescue plan LH - Belgian govt willing 'to do its part' Looks like all the obstacles have been removed and Brussels Airlines will get its rescue plan. Right? Hope we'll see it tomorrow. https://www.standaard....
