Re: (Belgian) flight crew commuting to Belgium
That depends on your company. I'm in the freight business, we've being flying and working very hard in an ever changing environment in different countries for months and months now. We have special rules on the flightdeck to avoid contacts and spend days and days in quarantaine in other countries. ...

Re: (Belgian) flight crew commuting to Belgium
I just do the tests and stay at home. Far from ideal, but why take risks and put others in danger? Being crew doesn’t protect you from getting or, even worse, spreading the virus!

Re: Boeing 737 (MAX) news
Brace, you are barking up the wrong tree! Simon was only, rightfully, criticising TL and Luchtzak for another copy/paste with a spectacular headline without double checking the story first. He didn’t judge the crew, he was just pointing out the Herald has a less spectacular but more realistic and fa...

Re: DHL A300-600 rejects takeoff above V1 due to difficulties becoming airborne
Well, as mentioned, that is less likely as the result of that would not "show" itself as an inability to raise the nose on takeoff, but as wheels staying on the ground beyond 10° of rotation... which ends up in tailstrikes. That is exactly how the airline reported the incident, but instea...

Re: DHL A300-600 rejects takeoff above V1 due to difficulties becoming airborne
I would like to avoid any "cause" pinpointing, that's not what I'm here for but related to the comments... Why should the V1 have to be higher? I was only hinting at the possibility of a calculation error, where the use of a too low weight led to a too low V1and Vr, as in the case of the ...

Re: DHL A300-600 rejects takeoff above V1 due to difficulties becoming airborne
it must also have been aborted after V1 (as VR is at least equal to V1, can’t be earlier). Which doesn’t mean its impossible for the aircraft to stop before the end of the runway. Unless there was a calculation error and the real V1should have been significantly higher than the one used as in this ...

Re: DHL A300-600 rejects takeoff above V1 due to difficulties becoming airborne
On Dec 3rd 2020 the Belgium AAIU stated the crew reported a normal acceleration of the aircraft during the takeoff roll. During rotation the nose did pitch up, however, the aircraft did not lift off. Not wanting to shortcut the investigation but IF the aircraft did rotate but didn’t take off, the s...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Even if the company goes belly up you will get your refund. You won’t get your money back if/when the company goes tits up, you would be way down the list of creditors. I find it unacceptable that the CEO sends a “personal” message to customers saying one will be refunded before the end of October,...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
My point was that, you have days with 6 long haul flights a day (saturday's) and plenty of connecting flight, and day with one single flight. There is just a problem with the use of the fleet. The demand is low (thank you sn26567 I didn't know  ) but it doesn't mean that you can't split the p...

Re: 2020 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
Irrelevant? The support given is also reflected in low(er) airport charges meaning that Wizzair, Laudamotion and the Ryanair flights with non-based aircraft also benefit from this support. Some of these flights operate to exactly the same destinations as similar flights from BRU. Your quote was abo...

Re: 2020 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
In a thread of Brussels Airlines you can read the following: Relevance of Brussels Airlines for Brussels Airport: - If SN operates a route, that leads to 4 times more Belgian jobs then if a foreign airline would operate the same route. The federal government gives state aid to the Belgian airliners...

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation
Can someone explain this ? "Ryanair cuts flight schedules by 20% in September and October as bookings drop due to restrictions" Is the aviation world still in total denial ? Passenger drop is >50% and they still create new routes and pretend schedule will only change by 20% ? Driving in t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
The flights resumed. For Kigali, I have just saw that the SN A330 makes a day stop at KGL.It is quite unusual, SN operates flights to Kigali in the evening (arrival around 7:00 p.m. and departure at 8:20 p.m.) The plane arrives at 12:50 a.m. and departs the same day at 9:10 p.m. The crews sleep log...

The guy basically does what he wants here. Mods don't do anything about this guy. Re: Impact of aviation on the Coronavirus crisis
"Aviation expert" Luc De Wilde says that it's perfectly safe because "there is no evidence" of on on-board infections. So apparently lack of evidence overrules sound judgement. What a fool. Luk De Wilde did not say "it is perfectly safe": he said "it is perfectly ...
