Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

HQ_BRU_Lover wrote: 07 Nov 2023, 14:01 Thanks crew1990, sounds logical indeed.
That still doesn't really explain the 4 weeks timeframe IMHO.
TUI never took that long between the 1st commercial flight and the delivery of its brand new planes. That includes new types under the very slow BCAA.

It has nothing to do if the politicians have a clue or not, it's a political decision to reduce the traffic I don't understand what so crazy with it?!

Re: BRU Summer 2024: news, new routes, airlines

Amelia Flybe Air India ... just a few for now Play? Norwegian ? Should not be a surprise as the Dutch government goal is to strengthen the position of KLM. The protest from KLM are just for *the Buhne" Hmm; so reducing movements from 500k to 425k is strengthening the position of KLM to you? Th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

Just a few numbers to think about :) Luxair growing to a fleet of 33 aircraft for a country of 660.000 inhabitants. Belgium has 11.7 million inhabitants and SN has currently 43 aircaft. https://media1.giphy.com/media/SqfHFPbzxw98xwFOiE/200.gif?cid=6c09b952nvfgoa6jdlvb9qepyf7jqwg8fbmm41h30hc21372&am...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

It remains a risky and non-ambitious business modell.. Very sad. There is a difference between ambitious and suicidal. The ideas of you have for SN are not ambitious, they are suicidal. Do you prefer to have a (relatively) small carrier in Belgium (still not doing very well, btw...) or end up like ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

I hope it's readable: The title is wrong: Air Belgium doesn't scrap ALL passenger flights, it scraps only SCHEDULED passenger flights. ACMI flights can also involve passengers. And most of the Belgian press, either Flemish or French, makes the same mistake. https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/tui-av...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

Yes but the situation has changed in the meantime and no airlines of the group are allowed at the moment to depart to TLV. Belgian gouvernement asked too late for those flight while German and Swiss gouvernement has been much more reactive. The LH744 flight happened the same day the SN flight shoul...

Excluding Israelis airlines, among biggest airlines only Air France, FlyDubai, Etihad still flying to TLV but AF flights make a stop at Athens on the return flight from TLV to CDG. BLL is also seasonal. I don't see any flights for the winter season. Wasn't the point of the leased aircraft so they could do thin routes as well? And not just in the summer season...or are there some other route plans in the works, not just for those aircraft.... Thx ! It will be Ryanair or CDG. I...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023

I talked with Miqvell some time ago : but I personally had the idea of making KF the "lil leisure sis" of SN, with LH taking them over. KF could have more "exclusive" routes with feeders done by LH Group, including SN. SN and KF could be co-existing on some routes without the sa...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023

The point is: "Why does Lufthansa feel the need to operate under three different brands (or even 4 with CityLine), each one with its own AOC, when SN is happy with one single brand and AOC?" Wouldn't SN do the same if it had the same size as Lufthansa? I bet they would. But, with 40 AC in...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023

For me, the three-brand strategy remains difficult to understand, when Brussels Airlines, part of the very same Lufthansa Group, does all this with a single brand. This enables SN to use the same aircraft in the winter for business travellers and in the summer for holidaymakers. Lufthansa has plent...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

New aircraft need less maintenance and use less fuel, which in turn improves the financial results. But you all know this. That's probably why there are still lots of "old" aircraft flying around the world in airlines making profit... ;) Your statement is a little bit too simplistic. Just...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

What an incredible situation. That raises two questions on my side: Why be part of a large group like Lufthansa if the Group is unable to help in case of difficulties? - When does SN help other airlines in the group? - How do other airlines from the group could help? Do they not need their own meta...
