Re: Brussels Airport - terminal B observations
We left to JFK on 22/04, the e-gates were working just fine then... E-gates were working just fine while I was there, but not all passports are valid for the e-gates. In front of me there was a father with his son (younger than 12 years old) trying persistently to scan their passports although it w...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
When it's been said that SN's loadfactor is unsustainable they had a much smaller loadfactor; it's weird to apply the comments about their loadfactor in the past to the current numbers. SN's loadfactor is increasing and that's definitely a good sign. To say that 70% loadfactor is unsustainable for ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
Comparing March figures in leisure oriented businesses is traditionally a difficult thing to do as the month is heavily influenced by the presence of eastern holidays (or not). Not to mention of course this time round it's basically meaningless given the closure of Brussels airport last year even, ...

Brussels Airlines takes over Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium, including two of its A320s and all of its 160 pilots and cabin crew. https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/brussels-airlines/brussels-airlines-becomes-leading-carrier-thomas-cook-belgium-takes-two-aircraft/ that is the reason for all those ext...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Wouldn't understand why everyone in the group gets brand new aircraft and SN wouldn't.... After all LH got SN for a scratch so no need for a big ROI All Eurowings' A330 are also 2nd hand (former EVA and Qatar), there are another 2 frames joining soon, both are ex-Turkish (and >10y old). And it's no...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
What a disappointing result... Not one word about replacing the ageing fleet by new A330neo's or second hand LH A330/340's... Once again, a too cautious step towards a (too) slow replacement of the worn down A330 fleet... I don't understand how people see this sort of cautious communication as a tr...

Re: Ryanair in 2017
oh no! what a piece of bad news! and I find FR is increasing its prices recently, esp. to Portugal and Spain, after kicking out Vueling. and now they reduce capacity, cancel Mallorca from BRU and totally Hamburg (I'm not surprised, it's always 5€ even some days before departure and when I took the ...

American Airlines will not resume PHL-BRU. American Airlines vliegt niet meer naar Zaventem http://www.tijd.be/ondernemen/luchtvaart/American-Airlines-vliegt-niet-meer-naar-Zaventem/9872016 I'm not surprised by this news. Sad though we won't see American at BRU for the time being. An opportunity fo...

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Will it be saved by Etihad?
Probably it's a but comparing apples with oranges, but: SN has +- 2500 employees for 10 long haul planes 30 medium haul and 7 short haul for 47 in total. AZ has +- 14000 employees for 25 long haul planes, 76 medium haul and 20 short haul for 121 in total. Source is Wikipedia... So, AZ is about 2,5 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
This caught me by suprise. I didn't know they were preparing another Belgian Icon logo jet.
Also a bit surprised that there was no big event organised like SN used to do with the other logo jets.
I will be able to see this aircraft in real soon, normally flying on it in a few days..

Re: Low cost airlines all scaling back at BRU
If I see how my current employer reacts to a 0,5% drop in loadfactor which is in the mid 80's, I would be very cautious of a 69% loadfactor. Seems to me that your heart is still with your previous employer instead of your new employer. But I can understand your approach. God knows what will happen ...

Re: Low cost airlines all scaling back at BRU
Mostly because of historic low fuel prices and some state aid, but don't let me try to convince anyone. What FR did is not hurt SN in the short term, but in the long term; by forcing them into an unsustainable growth. oh is it the long term now? oh dear... yawn.. and FYI the fuel prices are going u...

Re: Low cost airlines all scaling back at BRU
My points is that you should not solely focus on LF/SOF to determine profitability. Despite Ryanair arriving in BRU in 2014, SN has been profitable in 2015 and 2016. Mostly because of historic low fuel prices and some state aid, but don't let me try to convince anyone. What FR did is not hurt SN in...

Re: Low cost airlines all scaling back at BRU
My point is that despite SN offering historic low fares the are unable to fill their airplanes. ...In january ! Yes some !But not all flights...! The average LF is under pressure several months in a row! The January LF of 65% is simple unsustainable. says who? you???

Re: Low cost airlines all scaling back at BRU
What I'm witholding from this article is that Ryanair is not profitable and successful on all their routes in BRU. Unlike some posters on here pretended. Now that low cost competition with Vueling and Easyjet has been reduced, Ryanair can now lower their offer in BRU and focus and getting their rout...
