Re: Air Belgium in 2019
CX beat them on opening HKG due to many factors and then it was an uphill battle they couldn't win. They got quads, right. Would they have qualified for ETOPS from the start without any history? I doubt. CRL is another story. BRU was certainly too greedy for a local newcomer. Then Wallonia saw poten...

Haven't they learned from Air Belgium that you can use stickers too?

Re: BRU - Long haul & intercontinental in the medium-long term
Looking at Singapore I think Scoot could be a better pitch for SQ to undercut the ME3. They already fly to ATH & BER and BRU would be a good location in between the transfer hubs where many SQ and other flights link those places with SIN e.g. KL@AMS, AF@CDG, LH@FRA and BA@LON. I still see the A3...

Re: Air Belgium in 2019
Could it be that the runway length at CRL is such a limiting factor that AB had to resort to this ACMI business to keep alive until they can spread their wings far and wide from their homebase? If they are in for the long run it makes perfect sense. Once the runway is lengthened they can then launch...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
When you see that the metro, even at the stop called Kraainem, is strictly on Brussels region soil, and that the new tram lines in Evere are stopping at the Brussels-Flanders region border to meet future trams coming from Flanders... I wouldn't hold my breath.

Re: Airbus A320 and A320neo news
So the A321XLR is officially launched today and it seems MEA of Lebanon will be a launch customer for thin routes between Beirut and West Africa, Kinshasa is also in the cards.

Re: Crashes and serious incidents/accidents in 2019
At the same time Aeroflot has very recently placed a billboard at Brussels Airport departure hall advertising flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka. It wasn't there on May 1st and I saw it last night. I feel sorry for them.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Brussels Airlines, a.k.a. Eurowings will get a shitload of used A330s it seems. Not necessarily a problem tough. I didn't mean it as a problem, the A330 can offer a very comfortable ride and I agree that SN doesn't have +11hrs destinations for now. Nor could they with this fleet if they wanted to...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Brussels Airlines, a.k.a. Eurowings will get a shitload of used A330s it seems. I just hope that LH Group will take this into account when they compare the efficiency and returns of each component in the group. SN/EW may very well use BRU as a hub for long-haul flights but that doesn't seem to be a...

Re: Turkish Airlines is set to move to new airport on 6 April 2019
I'm pretty sure this could have been organised differently and more gradually, not to mention they could have planned this a long time ago and not book people on that day. I hope the new airport is better equipped to deal with snow that the old one otherwise it's going to be an even greater mess whe...

Re: KLM to end flights between Amsterdam and Brussels ?
I tend to agree with the conclusion that the plane is an overkill on this route and that a fast reliable rail link shall replace it given that: There is a frequent connection from AMS to Brussels Midi or Central or North There is a frequent connection from BRU to Amsterdam CS and Paris North There i...

Trip report - TUI BE there and back: Canary Islands
Introduction On February 23rd, 2019 I had the privilege to take what is my 400th flight, excluding two Cessna flights in Temploux, a balloon trip across the Walloon Brabant, and countless jumps and falls :) . Coincidentally, first flight back on December 10th, 1983 was also heading to the Canary Is...

Re: The Netherlands buy a 12.8% share in Air France-KLM Group
I can only support the Dutch government's will to have an equal share and say in the group. At the end of the day it is votes and seats that matter in the decision making process and this will reinforce their voice. Honestly it's quite funny when you see that the French are arguing that AF saved KL....
