Thanks for that. I checked airfleets and it seems Lufthansa's A330s are their youngest average age aircraft - only 2.9 years, so can't be all that bad. But on the whole not convinced by Lufthansa and their slipping standards.

Question on Lufthansa medium-haul economy class

Am planning a trip to the Caucasus in August, have checked out flight prices which are around 600-700 euros return. I'd like to know whether or not it's worth paying an extra 100euros to fly a Lufthansa A330 from Baku to Frankfurt then on to Brussels, rather than an old airBaltic 737 or Austrian A31...

Their new 737-700NG's have a standard 3-3 layout. Seats around the emergency exit are unusually laid out, with a few seats unable to recline and one seat with exceptional legroom. Here are my tips: * seat 14F is the best on the aircraft (no seat in front) and an emergency exit window seat, * seats 1...

I visited Lithuania last weekend on airBaltic (excellent experience, excellent airline!) and was very impressed. Vilnius is a lovely small city which I'd strongly recommended. I'm surprised they mention Paneriai in this Brussels Airlines blurb - surely there are better things to suggest to prospecti...

I think that only few of the brussels airlines 737s (ex- Virgin Express) are really "tired" while the others are more recent... Maybe they will refurbish them... any info ?! Just had a look on airfleets.net and apparently the average age of SN's 737 fleet is 12.8 years. The oldest aircraf...

I flew back to Brussels from Gatwick a couple of weeks ago on one of SN's 737's (OO-VBR). I'm certainly not a fan of Ryanair and their non-reclining seats, but at least their aircraft look fresh and clean. This old tired 737 was far worse - stained seats, no headrest (important if you're over 1m50 I...

The most beautiful airport I've been to is Tioman in Malaysia. Short runway between two mountains necessitates a sharp turn and steep descent then the plane came to a halt just before ploughing into the jungle! And the terminal building is little more than a hut decorated with flowers! Highly recomm...

As we're talking about baggage thought I'd share this link with you: http://www.airport-technology.com/features/feature561/ on T5's new baggage system - I saw a special report on BBC London news a week or so ago, in anticipation of the terminal opening next year.

More flights than ever - including world's shortest hop!

I found the following article interesting, thought some of you may too: THE WORLD’S scheduled airlines – including low cost carriers – offered a record 3.3 billion seats on 28.2 million flights during 2006. That represented an average daily offer of more than nine million seats on 77,371 individual ...

Quick question: why is web check-in not available for flights departing from Brussels? Does anyone know? Will it be introduced anytime soon? BA, BMI and SN all offer web-check-in for flights departing from Pier B to non-Schengen countries like the UK so I can't imagine it would be anything to do wit...

And why Belgian ! Social problems are not 'Belgian', unless you consider one part of the federation as the whole federation,(exactly as some think in that part.) When this happens in the USA, how do you call it? You still call it a strike. But in England (where I'm from) Thatcher introduced reforms...

Re: Which planes to replace SN Avro and BAe?

For me, I think that the Embraer family would be a good choice ... I agree. Simply love Embraers - flown LOT's 170's a few times, always impressed - roomy, spacious, good legroom and large windows. I would love to see Brussels Airlines adopt (on their European routes) a strategy and fleet like Flyb...
